My hubby and I are planning to finally take our honeymoon at disney  (Sept 10-17, 2011) I know its early but I like to plan my disney trips in advance. We have the free dining plan when we are there, but I have never had that before. I have been doing tons of research about it, but I am still a bit concerned with somethings. First, is everything on the menu a choice for an entree whether it is $20 or $40?? Also, when I call on the 180 day mark, should I advise them I am using a disney dining plan and that my hubby and I will be there for our honeymoon? Also how hard is it to actually get into the restuarants of choice around the time of the year we are going if I am booking them right on the 180 day mark???

California Grill
Hollywood Brown Derby
Yak & Yeti
Ohana
San Angel Inn
Teppan Edo

Any advice would help. Thank you so much! This is the first time I have actually had to do so much planning for disney all by myself. :confused3

WEll you asked,;).

First at 180 should be NO problem except for maybe if you decide to do LeCeiler. Even if your waffling on LeC I would book it you can always cancel.

If you love Sushi you'll love Cal Grill. Consider what time you want if your timing with the fireworks. Usually 9 or 10 pm that time of year but double check me!

Brown Derby if the best DHS has to offer. WE eat here usually for lunchtime. They have a great makers manhattan BTW.

Yak and Yeti is ok not much other for table service at AK.

SanAng I can't say since the new rehab.

Ohana has many fans. I personally find it chaotic and don't like to beg for food.

I would do LeC instead of tappan. Our worse meal last trip was there but it was the best meal of our prior trip.

Which DP are you considering? Did you check out the DxDP as well. It is more cost effective if you enjoy the signatures.

....and WElcome to the Dis!!!!

Thank you very much for your quick response, I will keep LeC in mind and will talk to my hubby about it. He loves steak. As for California Grill we want to go there especially for the fireworks, so if I book are reservations around 8 we should be good for them with a window table? We just want to have an amazing experience obviously and dont want our restuarant choices to be disappointing

I would recommend booking your ressies online. It is much easier and you control it. Also gives you an hour head start on those that call in on that day. ;)

As for getting a window seat for Wishes at Ohana it isn't a guarantee. But scehduling the adr for about an hour before the start time of Wishes you should be fine with at least "hearing" it.
If you put that you are celebrating your honeymoon hopefully they see that and plan for a window seat for you....but again it is hit or miss.

Yes you can order anything off the menu, $$ is not a determineing factor on the DDP. Meaning they don't restrict you.
Many people feel it is a better deal if they order the most expensive thing on the menu....I order what I want, to me it is a better deal if I am really enjoying the food whether it is $20 or 40.

Lastly when you make your adr's whether phone or online it doesn't matter whether you are on any plan. Now if you are doing a meal at CRT or HDDR (one that requires a credit card) then it does, not sure all the ins and outs with that, but if that is an interest you can ask specifics on that and someone will help you.

Oh and note that of your choices above, Cali Grill and Brown Derby are both 2 TS credits.

Good luck and have fun!
