Hi,

I have just joined this forum after browsing for a few weeks now.

I am aware you cannot book Escape weddings until 8 months in advance. So when it comes to using an outside photographer, and officiant, is it best to book them as far in advance as you can for your preferred date and then book the Escape package 8 months before the day?

What happens if you can't get an Escape wedding on that day? I wouldn't want to feel i was messing the photographer and officiant around by changing dates.

Hope this makes sense and thanks in advance

I can't speak about booking officiants since my grandfather is doing our ceremony, but as far as photographers go, they're pretty flexible because they understand Disney's booking process.

The photographers who do a lot of Disney weddings (Randy Chapman, Misty Miotto, Studio 22, the Roots, etc) will require a deposit to book a date, but will switch your date if you don't get it with Disney. I booked Randy 12 months out for my Escape wedding and he said would refund my deposit if I had to switch dates and he wasn't available for my new date. I'm pretty sure, from what I've read on the Dis, that the other photographers have similar policies.

I would recommend hedging your bets and booking your photographer, as the popular ones do book up before the 8-month mark.

Hope that helps! :goodvibes

Thanks for that. I am hoping the wedding will be next October, which means i will have to wait until Feb until i book it, doesn't seem like a big time scale at all.

Need to try and think of a wedding date now, and ring Disney to see if we can have a consultation this October when we go. x

Once you pick a date, I'd call Disney. Even though your date can't be confirmed until 8 months out, they will pencil you in. I had my name put in the books at 12 months and I was assigned a coordinator who has answered a ton of my questions and kept me posted on whether anyone else showed interest in my date. My 8-month mark wasn't until 2 weeks ago, but we've been communicating for months and she's been great. The week before my 8 month date, she laid out the whole process and what I'd need to do so at 8 months I could hit the ground running.
