Hi there

We are off to Vero Beach and then to the Boardwalk in November. It's almost five years since our last trip and long long overdue, we can't wait.

We would love some advice on park tickets, the new Disney UK tickets, are these the best, cheapest and most flexible option?

Apparently Alamo offer deals for car hire to DVC members, has anyone used them and how do you go about getting the discount?

Whats changed at both these resorts that we should look out for?

Cheers
Ian

DVC members get $100 off APs which work out at breaking even after 8 days without the discount.

Thanks Mark & Sue

Presume AP is Annual Passes? Do you book these through Disney website or when you get to there.

Cheers.

You can book APs in advance, vouchers only I believe (necessary if you want to book DDE - Disney's Dining Experience which gives you 20% off most full service dining options and is cheaper to buy if you have an AP).

Vero has changed since your last visit because it was affected by last year's hurricanes and closed for months for repair/refurbishment. There is less shrubbery at the back of the resort and the ocean is more visible. The wooden walkway has been replaced, all the carpets throughout are new and the oak floor has been replaced in the lobby (looks similar apart from strange banana-shaped indentations in the wood!) The whole resort looks in great shape.

I've not booked a hire car in the US for years because we prefer to pre-pay here and know that insurance and extras are included and we are not going to get hit for additional charges when there (which has happened to us in the distant past).

I usually have an AP, but you may find this site helpful, especially if you are not staying long enough to make an AP worthwhile: http://www.mousesavers.com/wdwtixadvice.html Again, I've no experience of buying tickets aimed at UK residents but if you ask on the main trip planning board specifically, I'm sure you'd get lots of advice there.

It sounds like a great trip you have planned :)

A good ticket available in the UK is the '14 day ultimate ticket' for 14 consecutive days of entry to all disney parks/water parks/DQ at £154 (21 consecutive days £176) This works out cheaper than the AP if you are only planning one trip.

A cheap option for car hire is through airline-network.co.uk they use Dollar rental but are cheaper than booking through dollar direct

Hope this helps

These are turtle tracks!

Vero was in great shape when I was there last week - was it only last week...!! - still lots of refurb going on, so it's only getting better.

Hi Moira, Fram4, JJ Penguin and Hilary

I've been travelling with work and not had a chance to log on to DVC for a few days so want to say belated thank you for your comments and advice.

It will be interesting to see how Vero Beach has got back on it's feet and I shall certianly check out those strange Banana shaped indentations!

airline-network sounds a good way for beating Dollar car rental rates, we will take a look.

Roll on November.
Cheers
