I posted this question on the tips forum and someone suggested I try here. I hope someone can help!
On our trip last November I took several pictures with a regular camera, nothing special, of Tinkerbell lighting the castle and of the fireworks. Honestly, I can't even remember the speed film I had or anything. Well, NONE of my pictures came out and I was so disappointed!!!!:(
Can anyone give me any tips for taking the pictures during this upcoming trip? I really would like some of Tinkerbell lighting the castle and of the fireworks above the castle. Where is the best place to get these pictures? What do I need to do?
I would love any advice that would help!
Thanks so much!!:p

Hi TLHB70 and welcome to the DIS and the Community Board.

First thing is to use a high speed film, if you are using film. 400 speed, 800 may be better, but a bit grainier. You can not use flash, but rather you need a time exposure that probably is best set manually, or if only automatic, with likely poorer results. Both Tink, and the fireworks should be taken with the camera supported by something other than your hands, due to the time exposure. You should use a tripod, a railing, trashcan, or the like.

A great location is, as you are facing the castle from the Main Street side, on the walkway which rims the canal, and connects Fantasyland to Tomorrowland. Great view of Tink and the fireworks. Of late, I have taken pictures from over in Liberty Square area, in front of Liberty Tree Tavern. A great spot to view and capture the fireworks, but you do not see Tink, nor the perspective of the fireworks looking like they are behind the castle.

I am sure others will give some great tips also.

I'll be at WDW in 5 weeks & as an avid photographer, I always am eager to hear new ideas on photography. Unfortunately, we will be missing the MK fireworks due to our flight time. We have reservations at another park for Tueday night :-( .

Is it possible to get photos of Tink, with 400 or 800 speed film, on one of the other nights when there's no fireworks?

On one night while at MK, we have reservations for Tony's at 6:00. I'm hoping to get some nice photos after dinner, once the park has cleared a bit.

Any other ideas?
