I have a Travelex Cash Passport which we got last year, in April. Last night I decided to check my balance, looked at previous transactions and found that I had been charged a 'monthly inactivity fee' of $3.50 because the card has not been used for more than 12 months (last used in April 08). It appears that, until I use the card again, they will continue to charge me $3.50 a month for the privilege of holding my money on their card.
So, that's the warning bit over - for anyone who has a Travelex Cash Passport, don't assume that any remaining funds are sitting safely on your card waiting for your next trip
Secondly, what do I do about the balance. There is not a huge amount on the card (just over $100). Initially, I thought I would just use the remaining balance to pay some of the balance off our Disney Cruise - however, I had an Email from DU this morning telling me Disney have declined the card. Not sure why, although reading the FAQs on the Cash Passport website, it says that some retailers will require you to have more than the amount you are paying on the card and, as DU will only process a payment for more than $100, it doesn't look like that will work. I thought about trying to withdraw cash but a) I'm not sure if I even have the PIN and b) how would I work out how much, in sterling, I could withdraw. It would seem a bit pointless to just withdraw £10 or something and pay the £2.50 withdrawal fee or whatever it is.
So, anyone got any advice for me? Any suggestions on the best thing to do with it?
