Advice on the 'calling to see about a pin' thing

We are looking at a trip for next August. Realistically, when would 2013 'pins attached to my name' be out there? Is is a total waste to be calling them this early?

It is never a waste of time. I was calling more than 180 days out for my trip in November. I think I was calling Feb/March actually. If Disney has your info via the website, previous trips, etc, you never know when a pin will be attached. I am sure there are pins out there for 2013 already.

Who exactly do you call about that and do you literally just ask if there is a PIN associated with your name? Are there really PINs associated that don't get mailed or emailed? I am desperately crossing my fingers for a Feb FD promo one way or another.

You call the reservation line to check for pins.

Please let us know if you actually have a pin for a 2013 date. There have been NO reports that anyone has gotten a pin in the last few months other than for the end of 2012.

Last Nov. 2011, I received a PIN for 30% off all resort levels in the mail. It said it was for the month of July 2012. However, it worked for the entire year 2012 (some blackouts). So, PINS for Summer 2013 could be out there soon. Good Luck!

Yes, there are pins out there than somehow never get mailed/e-mailed to people. I had been getting 10% off resort pins via e-mail, and 16% off resort via mail, but one day when I called to check for anything better, I got 30% off Deluxe Resort, 35% off Club Level Resort, so yes, it does happen as I never got an e-mail/mail about that one.

If I call and check, can I check more than on person's account? i.e. can I check myself then if nothing, ask to check DH's account?

I did. I checked mine and my wife's since I could tell them e-mail address, mailing address, etc (her's was under our physical address and mine is a PO Box I had before we got married)

What the heck kind of sense does that make (on Disney's part)? Why on earth do they attach PINs to people and not tell them? So how often do all of you call for an update? I did call today and the CM said no 2013 PINs are out yet, but she didn't know when.
