I'm a WDW veteran but my family has decided to head to California for Spring Break this year. :cool1: We want to do Disneyland and San Diego. We'll be there on Saturday 3/28/15 for one week. This is the week before Easter. I know... super busy I'm sure. Anyways, Am I better off doing Disneyland that weekend when we first get to the area (ex Sat/Sun/Mon) or going mid week (ex Tues/Wed/Thur)? I would think in general weekdays are better but it being the week before Easter I'm wondering if the weekend before would actually be better, as in lower crowds. I'm sure it will be busy no matter what but since we are flexible that week I want to do what's less crowded.
Thanks for any help.

I think it's going to be pretty busy regardless of which time period you pick. AP Blockout Dates run from the week before Easter to the week after, so you'll be there right during the peak Spring Break period. I would probably aim for the weekdays on the assumption that some folks have to work, so the crowds might be slightly lower on Mon-Thu, compared to Fri-Sun.

I would do the weekdays. I'm a premium ap, so I generally go spring break when school is out, but all other ap's are blocked. It's never as bad as a weekend or summer.

We used to do a lot of spring breaks, and I would pick the weekdays to visit. It's crowded, but I love the weather in spring!

We did a July/Aug trip with much trepidation. Here's what worked, in a nutshell: do not be where everyone else is.
1) Be there at rope drop or at least there at opening. While tourists and locals sleep, be in the park.
2) Generally plan you movement through the parks (i.e. start in this land, go to another land, get FP for this ride first, etc), but be prepared to adjust your plan to avoid the crowds within. For some reason, people at DL love queues. They see a line and, maybe for fear of missing out, they feel compelled to stand in the line too. If a ride has a line, skip it and do something else.
3) When the park gets full (about 1200) leave. Go back when you feel rested and ready to go back, which might vary from Parade time, to after dinner, or maybe not at all.

Lastly, don't let time drive you. Stop and enjoy the performers, mini-shows on the street, and the scenery. Nothing blocks out the crowds like a cheery disposition.

Thanks everyone for the help. I'll turn my attention on weekdays plans and get a game plan for touring, including getting my hubby and son out of bed early in the morning. :) They should be good sports about it. I made sure we got to the parks early in WDW and they saw first hand the advantage of being there at rope drop.
Yay! still so excited ...can't believe I'm going to California...let alone Disneyland!! :cool1:
