Hiya guys. Need some advice from DVC members who bring friends or relatives with them.

We have a trip scheduled in January with some friends and their DD (4 yrs) and DS (18 Mos). They are a little unsure about going because of their children's ages. We have told them not to worry and that there will be plenty of other years to go with us again.

Anyway, to help make this trip a magical experience, my wife and I have several suprises planned, however some will require leaving notes/items in their room (ex. a note and stuffed Woody and Jessie doll then night we have planned for Hoop Dee Doo.). I believe the one at check-in I can handle in advance with the resort, but others we want to surprise them with on return mid-day from the parks.

Any advice on how to get items/notes into their room during the day without them knowing? Could Member Services be of any help? Since both rooms are on my points, could I possibly get an extra room key for their room? If so, I can "forget" something on those days and make a return trip to "my" room to get it. :)
Any ideas/thoughts appreciated.

what a nice friend you are. You can request as many keys to the room as you need upon check in, and you could discretely keep one for yourself. How would they feel eventually discovering that you had a key to their room the whole time, are they that good of friends? When we shared a trip with family & friends once, we all had keys to everyone's room so we could come and go without having to always be knocking to get in.

Unless your name is on both reservations (not theirs) front desk won't give you a key.

However housekeeping is very happy to help with these surprises! they have keys to everything.

This confirms what I thought as my name is not on their reservation. I suppose even though housekeeping isn't addressing our rooms everyday, they should still be accessible for cash rooms and thus could help in the surprises.

dbond: As for them finding out we had a key the whole time. I'm not sure they'd mind at all provided we only use it to provide a little "Magic" for their children.

I'm thinking housekeeping will be our best bet. One day we will have the front desk call them to "collect a package"

You might consider an autograph book and pen as part of your welcome gift. We went to Disney with our nieces who were similar ages and they loved getting autographs. As a follow up we made a book from a disney photo album that we bought while there and made copies of the autographs and placed them across from pictures of my daughter with each of the characters. Also if it is anyones birthday and you mention it at check in we have recieved a card and balloon when we returned at the end of the day. Have a great trip.

I take it you are staying in two studios rather than a 2 bedroom? I don't know which resort you are staying at, but at OKW, a 2 bedroom is so easy with other families, that we usually do that. It isn't too much togetherness at all, and if you get a lock off, they would have their own entrance too. We find our guests tend to leave their door closed or open as they choose. It is MUCH more fun together!

We will have two seperate studios as is stands now at VWL. This is to conserve points as later in 2003 we are also taking my uncle and his dw and children to BCV (home)
