This is my first time with kids going to Disney and I have six year old twins. I currently have reservations at Hoop de Doo, Biergarten (for dinner), the princess storybook dining in Epcot (the only thing I could at this point that had princesses), and the Boma (SP ???) in the Animal Kingdom-has anyone been there and do you like that restaurant or the Tusken more?? What else do you recommend for that age that is not all character dinners??? (We are going in September-I can't wait!!):

Hi.. Welcome to the Dis. I see that this is your first post. You have done fine with your restaurant picking.. I have not done Tusker House but have indeed done Boma for breakfast, it is an all you can eat buffet with some interesting choices on it. We ate there in March and loved it.

I also like Teppan Edo in Japan, where the chefs cook Japanese style stir fry in front of you on huge stoves that you are seated around... they actually do a little show for the kids while cooking.. some are quite entertaining...

O'Hana is always fun for children, character breakfast in the am and evening dinner is a Polynesian feast.. food is adequate and you will get differing opinions on the quality..

I am going to move this to the main board where you may get more responses from the veterans on the Restaurant Board.

We had dinner at Boma last month. We have three kids, ages 8, 6, and 1. We really enjoyed the food. It's a buffet and there are some African dishes, but there's plenty of traditional food as well. I think they have a huge variety - more than other WDW buffets. There is also a kids' section where they have the usual chicken tenders, fries, etc. AKL is a beautiful resort. If you eat at Boma, I would recommend spending some time exploring the resort before or after dinner. There are areas where you can go to see the animals and there is also storytelling around a firepit in the evening (time varies at different times of year - it was at 7:00 or 7:30 in April).

We haven't been to Tusker House at AK for dinner, but we did eat breakfast there and loved it. We're planning on doing it again next year.

Just wanted to make sure you know that Boma is NOT at the Animal Kingdom theme park. It's at the Animal Kingdom Lodge resort. You'd need to take a bus or drive to the resort.

Tusker House is in the AK theme park.

My kids are 15 and 12 and we ate at Boma in Sept and none of us cared for it that much - since it was a buffet we didn't go hungry - but we had really expected more after all the reviews we had read.

However - I think we are in the minority with our opinion. The resort is beautiful and we really enjoyed looking around before dinner.

Welcome! You have made some great choices!

Are you having dinner or breakfast at Boma? We are going for breakfast for the first time next month, but have gone for dinner on our last 3 trips. Boma is fantastic and my kids love it. Boma is at AKL (Animal Kingdom Lodge), very pretty & really neat atmosphere. We have not been to Tusker House (at Animal Kingdom-the park)

Biergarten is fun and the Princess Storybook breakfast is really good, haven't been for dinner in a few years, but will be going in June.

Other restaurants that kids will enjoy: Sci-Fi or 50's PTC at DHS, Whispering Canyon Cafe (WCC at WL) Beaches & Cream at BC, Cape May Cafe at BC (character breakfast buffet & clambake dinner buffet)

have a great trip! :goodvibes
