We are planning our 1st trip to VB for June 07. Our home resort is BCV so I'm counting down the days until I can call for ressies. We will fly into MCO from Austin.

Since the pts are so "expensive" for Fri/Sat, DH suggested that we plan to arrive on a Sat., spend the week @ VB and check out Fri a.m. Drive back to Orlando and find somewhere to stay for our departure flight on Sat. (We would have to borrow pts from our next use year to stay over Friday.)

I think it sounds like a good idea but I'm wondering if I'm missing something here??? It just seems we can find a nice room for less than staying one more night at VB.

Any advice where folks stay when you don't plan to visit the parks and only need a place to stay over while you wait for your flight back home?

Try the Marriott World Center. We typically fly into MCO on Saturday morning and stay at the Marriott Saturday night, and then shoot down to Vero early Sunday morning. The Marriott has great resurants and a great pool.

Well, we did exactly what you are planning on doing. We chose to stay that one night at the AKL. We had never been and thought that it was a great hotel with great dining and activities for the kids and we were upgraded to a Savannah view from standard view.

I always check out Travelzoos weekly specials for a place to stay in Orlando when I'm not planning to stay at WDW. We used to stay at a value resort with AP discount, but I haven't been as pleased with staying there as we once were.
