advice on oct 08

ok, i have a definate go ahead for returning next year from the hubbie, so i am after your kindness with regards to when we go...
last year we went last week nov first week of dec and it was amazing as crowds were quite low so we managed to do absolutely loads!!!!
this time round i need to consider the childrens school holidays so i was wondering what the crowd levels are like for oct24 for the 2 weeks??????
also more excitement...we may have an extra 3 in our group as my big sister wants to join us if we go in the half term with my nephew who is gonna just love it....how exciting!!!
will really appreciate your advice with this as hoping to book it in next few a days!!!!!!!!!

Planning is the fun part! We went last October half term for the same reason as you; I am not keen on my children missing much school. I found it a great time to go; it was the end of hurricane season which was a plus and the crowds were low, they did however build up over Halloween but nothing too extreme. We never queued for very long for anything. I can remember queuing for over a well over an hour for rides at other times of the year. The weather was pleasant, can’t remember having any rain and found it great for walking around the parks as it wasn’t too hot, definitely shorts and t-shirt weather but maybe a light jacket for the children in the evening. Some relatives hired a villa and didn’t even feel the need to have the pool heated which is recommended for that time of the year. Hope this has helped, enjoy your planning!

We have been a few times in Oct and is great time to go. We always did Oct half term and the 2 weeks before it so probably returning home around 24-27th ish. We have found crowds get quieter as our hoildy went on, so your 2 week should be great for crowds. Weather can get cooler as you get into Nov, we have had great weather in Oct but cools off towards the end. We love August hot weather so if like dont like extreme heat it should be OK for you.
You will still catch some of the Halloween events which are brilliant.
Only had 1 hurricane in Oct they drop off, so you will be fine for them.

I think October is one of the best times to go - it's still hot but not as humid as July or August. Crowds are manageable. Halloween activities are great fun for all the family.

We're going in Oct 08 and staying at Regal Palms. .ooking to go around the 12/10 for 3 weeks again, with virgin. Couldn't belive my luck when regal palms appeared in the broucher for next year, as the boys loved the pool. We were going to stay on site, but changed our minds.

We went last October. We flew out on the 11/10 and came back around 02/11. We had one morning of rain (2 hours). It was quite cool in the mornings near the end of our holiday, and I had to buy a fleece, which will be going with me next time.

The parks were great, and loads of brits there.

Great time of year to go. The resort was fantastic and wasn't too busy.

I think October is a great time to go. We are flying out on 22/9 for 3 weeks and would have liked to have gone later in the year but it was such a good deal we couldn't resist.

We went for the middle two weeks in October last time and the weather was great. We had a few spots of drizzle and some cloudy days but it was still really warm.

havent decided where to stay yet, last year we were at port orleans riverside and it was lovely,we all really liked it.... we are not sure wether to go back there or try somewhere new.
as we are thinkin of goin in october the price goes up a bit so i am trying to decide wether to do a value or moderate.... any recomendations??
also any suggestions on budget deals, we went with tcd and were more than happy with them but if i can do it cheaper than i have more money to have fun with in florida....

Hi, we stayed in POR last November and it is a lovely resort, however we would not go back in the near future; although I am not saying ever. My reason being is that we have two young boys and I found the theming (don’t know how to put this!) more relaxed and not really exciting
The boat to Downtown Disney was great, everyone enjoyed this.
My husband and I got married in Disney last November and after the celebrations we came back to the resort and went on the horse and carriage ride; I strongly recommend this, it is a good way to explore the resort.
If it were just me and my husband then yes, we would definitely jump at the chance to stay at POR again but when our children are at such a young age I prefer the theming of the All-stars and POP Century.
This is the first time we have ever stayed anywhere else but the All-stars. I just love the theming, I feel like we are still in Disney and best of all we have the extra money to spend on luxuries!
This August we are staying in POP Century, so fingers crossed!

BTW, have a look at Expedia, I have just priced up two weeks at the POP from 24th October - 7th November flying from manchester for 2a 2c for £2180flying with virgin! A bargain!

i agree with you about po!!!! very relaxing surroundings, as my tribe were 10 11 12 it quite suited us and was lovely to come back to after a hectic day.......... we did not stop at all!!!!!!

i am thinkin of pop for next year or asm as i am a keen scrap booker and the photp opportunities at these resorts look amazing, staying off site isnt an option as we loved the added benefits of disney!!!!!!

You dont have to stay onsite to go take photos you can visit any resort even if you stay offsite. We only stayed onsite once at ASM and found no benefits at all, but we don't like Disney Dining, Disney transport or Early morning hours. ASM was too basic for us.

can you use all the facilities around wdw if you stay on site?? like pools and restaurants of other resorts??
