Hey everyone....

My wife, five year old daughter and I are planning an MLK Weekend trip to WDW in January and are looking at accomodation options (our one year old twins will have to stay home for this one, lol).

Last year we stayed at Holiday Inn Family Suites and it was great. Now that it is Nicholodeon, it seems MUCH more expensive and no free breakfast. Anyway, other multi-room suite options seem very expensive too.... which leads me to home/villa rentals.

I'd like any advice, ideas, websites, tips, dos and don'ts, you might have on home/villa rentals.

I think I'd like to stay within 15 minutes of Disney, have a private HEATED pool, and 2-3 bedrooms.

Thanks for your expertise!!

Hi,

I would stay somewhere behind the old Splendid China on West 192 Emerald Island, Windsor Palms etc. Rent through a private owner, try this site I have now rented 3 homes on here www.daystarvillas.com

The house we always rent through www.villadirect.com has:

Pool (with fiber optic lighting)
Spa
Big Screen HDTV
DVD Player (with kids & regular DVD's)
Themed bedrooms (Disney, Spiderman) for the kids
2 master bedrooms, (beautifully decorated in a beach theme)
200TC sheets
Fridge with ice maker/water
Xbox (or Nintendo, can't remember)
Free long distance/local calls
Beautiful decorating without being "snobby"
Screen/sliding door to pool has a child alarm
Pool toys
Gas barbecue
Nice patio furniture
Washer/Dryer
Dishwasher
Backs to a wetland for privacy and wildlife
4 bedroom/3 bath (one with jacuzzi and one with big walk-in shower)
2 minutes to Disney
The management office has "concierge service" where you can get discounted attraction tickets and discount rental cars

The name of it is the Sunshine Bay Villa and it's at Oak Island Cove, but they have tons of other houses too

And it only costs $130/night.

Love it, love it, love it.

I'm checking daystar, but can't get advanced search to work (which is really aggrevating and doesn't instill much confidence)..

Is it true that All Star Vacation Homes.com is more expensive? Why would that be?

Keep in mind that it may be a little harder to find short term (less than 1 week) rental with a home/villa. Those that do rent for only a few days will probably charge an extra cleaning fee. You might also consider Cypress Point for just a few nights, may be be less expensive. I stayed there for one Friday night last January. Prices are reasonable for a 2 bedroom condo, probably around $70/night.

We rent our villa from 1 night up to months at a time. (no minimum number of nights.)

We are renting from disneymagic-villa . com. It is a privately owned home and the owners are nice and really easy to work with. They are also reasonably priced. :cool1:

Many villa owners rent for short stays (less than 7 nights) and while they may add a cleaning fee of $45-$75 the overall price is still excellent value for money when you think what you're getting.
We stayed at Cypress Point for 2 nights at Christmas after we came back from the Disney Cruise and although it is nice enough it is nowhere near as good as staying in the villa.

The older developments tend to be a bit cheaper. We've rented in Lindfields several times and never had a problem.

If you are willing to give up the private pool, then you have many more options. You could go through Skyauction and get a 2-bed condo. Even if you have to pay for a week, the price is so reasonable that it won't matter if you only actually stay 4 days. We stayed at Orbit One Vacation Villas last year and will be staying there again this year. Very nice for the price.
