Hi all,

We are looking at a long weekend at DLP before embarking on a river cruise. I've heard some of the in park hotels are a bit tired. Which ones would you recommend? Are there off-site hotels within walking distance to the parks?

Thank you!

Susan

My sister has recently stayed at Sequoia Lodge and enjoyed it. She said it’s a 5 minute walk to the Village and 10 to the parks. She used to stay off site but doesn’t recommend as the bus service can be crazy busy and lots of queue jumpers. After staying onsite she has said she will never go back off site.
The Disneyland hotel has been recently renovated and is their most expensive hotel but looks beautiful.

We have only stayed on-site. As stated above, The Disneyland Hotel just reopened last year after a remodel. It is gorgeous, but very pricey. New York/Marvel is the next newest and has a fun, modern, character vibe. Sequoia Lodge and Newport Bay have been reported of as "tired" and in need of a refresh, but we stay at Sequoia Lodge and like it. I wouldn't hesitate to stay at Newport Bay either.

How much time do you plan to spend in the hotel and/or room?

If you just need a place to sleep, does it matter that some of the woodwork needs a new coat of paint? 'Tired' is only an issue if you spend a lot of time there (in my opinion). All the rooms are in a perfectly fine state.

The 2 newest / most recently refurbished hotels are the Disneyland Hotel and Marvel.

The Disneyland Hotel is gorgeous, but it is not good value for money, especially if you spend an entire day at the park. It is expensive and very overpriced. Marvel is better value, but you still pay a lot for the Marvel brand.

The off site hotels within walking distance (30 minutes) are not in a better state than the Disney hotels.

Hi Moira! I think we are leaning towards Sequoia Lodge. Bill says it reminds him of our beloved WL. I am excited to explore DPL! Hit me up with all the tips. :)

We are also seriously thinking of coming to Ireland next summer to celebrate my 60th! Hopefully we can meet up.

Thank you! Disneyland Hotel looks beautiful but is $$$$. My DH does not like the look of the Marvel hotel so I think we would be looking at Sequoia or Newport.

It's only a short 3 day/2 night trip following a river cruise. So I don't imagine we would spend a ton of time in the room. As long as the room, bathroom and bedding are clean and comfortable I would be happy.

New York/Marvel isn't my vibe either.

Here are pics from our room at Sequoia Lodge last year. We will probably try the Disneyland Hotel next year, but I would definitely stay at Sequoia Lodge again.

If those are your requirements, you'll be fine in any of the Disneyland Paris hotels.
Although comfortable is subjective. In Europe we like our mattresses to be firm, so sometimes Americans have some issues ;-)

I would probably pick Sequoia as well, I think the price/quality ratio is a bit better than at Newport Bay.

And if you need any tips, there is a sticky with first timer tips. If you have any particular question, go ahead and ask! :D

Oh, I'm not American. Proud Canadian here. 🍁 I did read through your sticky which was so helpful! Thank you. :)

I’ve only been once in 1998 😱😂. I’m hoping to rectify that next year with my grandchildren- just waiting on opening date for Frozenland as they’re both huge fans. My sister has been loads of times and is a repeat visitor to Sequoia Lodge. She has some mobility issues ( awaiting hip replacement) and loved the convenience of SL. It allowed her to walk in and out of the parks easily especially for a midday rest. It gives me WL vibes too though granted I’ve only seen photos of the inside.
When we went we stayed at Newport Bay which has BC vibes but it’s a longer walk (though still pleasant). I think if I was to go back I’d be trying SL I will ask my sister if she’s any tips but bear in mind I told her about the dragon in the castle and she only visited him for the first time on her last trip as she had not realised he was there 😂

We are also seriously thinking of coming to Ireland next summer to celebrate my 60th! Hopefully we can meet up.
Ooh that’s exciting! Funny we were talking last night about visiting my husband’s Canadian cousins in the near(ish) future. Nothing solid planned- just reminiscing over a glass of wine about our trips to Canada pre- kids and thinking it’d be nice to go back.
When is your birthday? I’m 60 this year so a wee bit older than you but not too much 😁

Sequoia Lodge is one of my favorites hotel at DLP but I want to warn anyone familiar with WL or GC: it'll remind them, but it's a step down from both.
Still lovely, but there is no grand lobby (both the WL and GC are masterpieces) and it's classed as a moderate, not a deluxe. With the right expectations you'll have a great stay!

To add, except the Disneyland Hotel, grand lobbies aren't really a thing in DLP. Marvel also has high ceilings, but it has a very industrial bare vibe. Not a place to lounge.

Good! Then we get more info, where do Canadians stand on mattresses? In general do they prefer soft or firm mattresses?
No idea on Canadians in general but my preference is for a firmer mattress.

Newport Bay looked nice too but Bill thought the rooms were a bit fussy.

Come to Canada! Where are your husband's cousins located?

I think it looks lovely. I'm fine with mods at WDW so I'm sure it'll work out.

He has a cousin in Toronto and another in Goderich. I also have a friend from my nursing days in Alberta. We lived together with another girl ( who’s now living in Australia) during our training and meet up anytime she’s home..

More time to plan exciting trips and celebrations 🎉🥰
