Advice on developer points

When we bought into AKV last year, we were given the equivalent of our purchase points in developer points. We were hoping to use the developer points for a 1wk trip in May, and the first week of a split 2wk holiday in September - our developer points are valid until Sept. 15th.

Long story short, after some recent tests at the hospital mum has been advised not to travel in May, as the doctor wants to slowly start increasing her daily capabilities and doesn't want her the other side of the world if the increased activity starts to have an adverse effect. Sept is still on, but May is a no-no now.

Originally, we planned that is something like this (or a new diagnosis) came along, we would just use the developer points to book a 1BR instead of a studio. However, we have been thinking, and this is where my question comes in...

Is would it be possible to use the developer points to book a holiday for a friend or something? I know it's fine with the regular points, but not sure when it comes to the developer points? And will they think it strange/refuse the request since we won't have taken any holidays ourselves by this point - friends trip would be May/June, we wouldn't be going until Sept lol??

Any help/advice would be gratefully received!

I think it should be fine. I know people have rented out their DP's. I just decided today that I might use my last 38 points for a friend to have a quick get a way if she can do so before they expire. SHe lives in FL so she could make it by Oct 3rd hopefully (when our DPs expire).

Yes, you can make a reservation in someone elses name with your DP's. One bedrooms are pretty nice though! LOL

Great news. Yes, I'm sure they are, but our normal points allowance only gives us studios, so I'm a bit worried about going to a 1BR, then the studio and then having had the taste for the 1BRs, having to buy more points for next year lol But thanks for answering the question!
