Soooo here's the deal!! A couple weeks ago DH & I decided to toy around the idea of not going to WDW in December b/c his friend is getting married in South Africa and as much as I love Disney :p we can go next year but when would we have an excuse to go to South Africa? So I thought it was a done deal -no Disney this year for me :(

But recently DH has been talking about taking a short trip to WDW and I thought how neat it would be to really save up and surprise him with a 4 day excursion. Don't know if I can make it happen but I'm willing to try. Thinking mid to late August or September after labor day. Neither of us are big heat or crowd people but I'd take heat over crowd. Anyone know just how bad it is at that time of year? Also is it real buggy?

Thanks for any info!!

A surprise WDW trip! I'd love it if my DW gave me one of those! :D

Your best bet would be for Spetember after Labor Day. The heat should not be a problem, and you'll have lighter crowds. WDW is usually pretty crowded and hot all summer up to Labor Day. Then the crowds start to thin out. I'm not sure about the bugs (there are threads about them here somewhere), but they come at specific points during the year, and if I'm not mistaken, you'll be OK in Sept.

Be aware, though, that you'll find shorter hours. But you'll probably find it's not a problem because of the lighter crowds.

Have a great trip!

I went the weekend after Labor Day two years ago and never had to use FastPass even once! And because of the low crowds in September, DH, DS, DIL, DGS and DGD and I are going again this September!:bounce: :Pinkbounc

Hope you do get to go!

If you can make it in Sept., that would be your best bet. If not, late August is good too as the Flordia students are back in school, I believe. The only problem with Sept. is the threat of hurricanes. No Bug problems in AUg or Sept., I've only experienced BUGS in May/June.

I usually don't mind the excessive heat because we usually take precautionary measures to combat the heat.

1) Wake up early. If you get to the parks early, you'll beat some of the crowds and the temps won't hit their max for several hours. This way, you can enjoy most of the park, then head back to the resort for some R&R during the afternoon. Then, clean yourself up and head back to either the parks or DtD restaurant for dinner in the evening.

2) Bring some H20. We usually get a fridge and buy a ton of bottled water then freeze some of it over night. take a couple frozen bottles with you to the park, along with a towel and it will make standing in a long, hot line feel like a breeze (not really, but it will help).

3) Don't go "Commando"! One thing about the heat is that it takes a lot out of a person. Plan ahead and decide what you "must see" vs "maybe see". This way you can prioritize you time and spend your energy on the things you really want to do. With only 4 days, you WONT be able to see EVERYTHING.

I have been in September twice, and both times it was really really hot, and not to mention humid. The crowds were great though!

We've been the past two years in September and loved it, the first time we had absolutely wonderful weather, only rained one afternoon, last year we had a few more days of rain, but its nice and refreshing due the hot weather--we'll be back this Sept from the 6th til the 29th!!
