We are arriving at Disney on a Saturday afternoon - rather than pay for a half-day in the park, I thought we would just hang out at our hotel and then do a character dinner - only chef mickey's is Booked - not just for saturday but our WHOLE TRIP!!! Amazing - I was able to get PS for Cindy's castle, but not chef mickeys!

1) Which would be a better CM - 1900 park fare or Gulliver's grill - keep in mind this is a 3-year old DD, 8month DS, DH and me, and that we are going to CRT for breakfast later in the week.

2) what would happen if we showed up at Chef Mickey's without a PS?

Where else can I take DD that she could have a great character meal with Mickey and Minnie?

Thanks!!!

Not sure when your trip is - but, depending on how busy WDW is at the time - you may be able to get a seating at Chef Mickey's once you arrive. I surprised my hubby with a last minute trip in March & we were able to get a seating at Chef Mickey's once at the Contemporary. We didn't have our first choice of times - but we got in! :D

We LOVE Liberty Tree Tavern for dinner at the MK - it has Minnie, but no Mickey. I think Chef Mickey's might be the only meal with both Mickey & Minnie. Hope this helps!

If you have a length of stay pass (either AP or UPH) and are near Epcot, the meals at the Garden Grill are fun. Farmer Mickey, Farmer Minnie....and some good food served family-style in a skillet.

In answer to your questions -

Even though you are doing CRT later in the week - the dinner at 1900 park fare is VERY good - better than the average buffet AND has the mice and Prince Charming ( he is not always at the castle) the atmosphere is IMO much more relaxed

with that said - O'hana's would be a nice alternative

ALSO - Twice we tried to get Chef Mickey's shortly before our trip and were told it was booked - got there early and were seated immediately both times. Now, this was during the "off season" but it happened on two different trips - so - if you get there EARLY you may just luck out - I am pretty sure they begin seating at 5:00 PM.

I hope this helps!

We were there in May 2002 and couldn't get into Chef Mickey's with a PS. We read in a guide book that you can often still get into a restaurant if you go when they first open. We tried that at Chef Mickey's (we got there 10 minutes before the dinner seating) and were seated immediately in the main dining room (with 6 in our party!) You could try it and have a later PS somewhere else close by that doesn't require a credit card/24 hour cancellation, as a back-up!
