Advice on booking

We're BLT owners and that's the only place we've stayed so far. We have a cruise in June/July 2013. I want to come down a few days before, stay DVC, go on cruise, stay another DVC a few days; then go home.

I am thinking AKV Concierge level so we can do the special safari's you can only book if you stay there and Vero Beach for the other part.

Now my question. I know I can book BLT @ the 11 month window. I know nobody has a crystal ball to say if the dates/resorts I want at the other properties will be available @ the 7 month window. So, do I go ahead and book BLT to be sure we'll have something, then when I get to 7 months, can I book the others if they are available and cancel BLT? Or do I just play poker and hope I get the full house?

I read the book and I don't think I can split my BLT reservation once it is made but I'll be making it in 3 and 3 or 4 day increments on each side of the cruise so that shouldn't be a factor.

If you know you want to stay at a DVC resort before your cruise, then most definately book your BLT stay. At 7 months you can change your stay and you can most certainly do a split stay, you just need to book at at/after 7 months.

Also, I don't follow the availability of the resorts too much but I do think that AKL Concierge may be hard to get at 7 months.

Getting the AKV concierge is difficult at 7 months, but the fact you want it for one night, will give you a better chance.

In terms of your 11 month window, you will have to book the 1st night and then call back to book your other part when the 11 month window opens for those dates.

It will be the same at the 7 month mark--you can book that first night and then call back when the 7 month mark opens to book the other part after the cruise.

You can only book 7 days forward from the window as long as it is a continuous reservation--if it breaks for any reason, then its considered a multiple reservation and check in date for each segment applies.

I know it will be a crap shoot if we get a room or not 7 months out but I think I'll go with the recommendation and try for the AKL for the 2 day ressie. We can always scrap Vero Beach and just stay @ BLT the rest of the trip.

I am using "Faith, Hope, and Pixie Dust" as the plaque on my desk reminds me everyday for the AKL ressie.
