We are thinking of booking for a split stay at the AKL and YC next August/September, however I just need a little clarity regarding the free dining and park tickets.

I was hoping that we'd be able to purchase a 14 day ticket entitling us to free dining even though after 7 days we'd be changing hotels. I was hoping that we could just do this under one booking.

Having just called Disney direct it seems that I have to do 2 seperate bookings and purchase 2, 7 day tickets, which is obviously going to cost us hundreds more (with the price of a 7 day ticket the same as a 14 day ticket - £220 adult & £193 child).

I'm really surprised at this, as basically it's discouraging split stays, and I wonder if have understood correctly!

Has anyone else ever done this and does it mean 2 seperate bookings and 2 seperate 7 day tickets?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I was really looking forward to staying at 2 seperate hotels, but refuse to pay about £826 more (for the 4 of us) by having to pay the park ticket price twice!

Thanks.

Unfortunately you have understood correctly. As far as Disney is concerned there is no such thing as a split stay.

Your only option is buy 2 lots of parks tickets or wait for US free dining offer were the ticket requirement would only be a 2 day base ticket for the second part of the stay.

Split stays do not work with the DDP because of the ticket requirements.

Thank you for your reply. What a shame that they do this. Now I'm going to have to decide whether or not to stick to our favourite resort (AKL) or try something new for a different location (YC).

Back to the drawing board!

When we did a split stay a few years ago, albeit staying off site for our second week, we didn't have a problem in buying a 14 day ticket together with 7 nights accommodation to get free dining.

I wouldn't have thought there was anything to stop you booking AKL and 14 day tickets, then a separate booking for the Yacht Club. It may be that if you are trying to book the two resorts at the same time that problems arise, or that the CM who you spoke to misunderstood your requirement and assumed you wanted free DDP for the entire stay?

That said, I would be very tempted to keep to the one hotel for the two weeks to make the most of free DDP ;)

I think she did want the free DDP for the 2 weeks:confused3.I had this problem 2 years back but in the end did 9 days through disney and then did 5 nights dvc and paid for the DDP. There is the other option of buying through US site but you would still have to buy the base tickets for the 4 of you for one though I did here it was 2 now. Anyway AKL is my favorite resort.Thats why Im buying into dvc there as our home resort when we go in november:thumbsup2
