we are taking DD's BFF this year and she eats nothing, not steak, pork chops, italian, nothing with anything green in it (really). mac and cheese, no cheese for that matter, potatoes, the list goes on and on, but she likes hot dogs, go figure. anyhow, we are on the DDP she is 14 so adult menu. will they produce a childs menu for her upon request? we will suffer if they will allow the childs menu as we wont get our moneys worth but with her we wont anyway. drinks nothing but water and only dessert acceptable is, drum roll please............. smores. doesnt like these either!! popcorn:: or this!!.:cake: nope!!.:drinking1 whatever this is i doubt it.

OK, well that is a little weird....um, you could maybe try to get a list of foods from her of what she will eat and then call ahead to the places you will be dining to find out if they have it or can make it.

Still, that's extremely picky for a 14 year old. My DS4 is picky, but not that picky. Are you sure she is healthy?

To tell you the truth at 14 I wouldn't worry about it too much. I would schedule my ADR's making sure thy weren't all unusual menus and then let her figure out something to eat when she gets there or be hungry. She is old enough to read the menu and find something she'll eat or ask the server for options. She can use her spending money on hot dogs from the carts if she can't find anything on a menu to eat. If she was 4 I'd go at it differently but at 14 she needs to figure this out herself.

I would agree with the above poster. With someone that picky you will never be able to find things for her. Take care of yourself and don't ruin your vacation trying to take care of BFF.

I agree she's old enough to sit through a meal even if she’s not eating....she'll eat when she's hungry....Just let her be and she'll find something to eat

I went with a very picky eater before, my best friend and she was 38!

We did buffets and that helped alot, she found alot more to eat than she thought she would.

You can have the girl look at the menus for the restaurants that you are going to ahead of time so she can get an idea on what she would eat there.

ANother way to do it is have her eat at a CS place before you sit down to your TS place. My friend had no problem doing this and the TS places did not charge for us to have a non eater at the table

I agree. No reason for you to plan your entire vacation around her eating (or lack of eating) habits.

Almost sounds to me like her parents let her pick and choose what to eat growing up and that she never learned to "just try it". This definitely isn't your average "picky eater".

i agree with all of this but what i really need to know is can she eat from the childrens menu with an adult DDP. you see there are hot dogs on most of the childrens menus and that will solve all problems.

I don't see why not. You're paying for the adult plan but giving the customer less food - sure, have Disney make some more $$$.

It won’t be an issue...she can order off the kids menu...or they will give her an adult portion of a kids menu item...no need to worry they'll take care of her

My picky eater does not like hot dogs so maybe I missed them but I really dont remember hot dogs on the childrens menu. I just asked DS9 (the picky one) and he said mac and cheese, pizza and chicken nuggets were what he remembers. He remebers stuff like that too even if he doesnt eat it:confused3

I would look at the menus before you go with her and go from there. Try buffets...sorry that is all the sugggestions I have!

Funny thing - there are actually a number of locations that sell hot dogs. Sometimes it's even on the adult menu!

ya know what? i think chicken fingers are one the short list also, huuu-rahhh, full speed ahead. BTW we took her camping this weekend at Knoebels Grove amusment park, you all may have heard of it, its 45 minutes from our house. we were eating pizza for supper and i look over and she is scraping the sauce off. she said there was something green in it (oregano) so she could not eat it.

Oh my good luck with that! I thought DS9 was bad....

:rotfl2:

on a more serious note, sounds like there are some OCD issues going on.

Wishing you the best on this trip. Let us know when you get back how picky bff did on the trip

Well you are nicer then I am...

I took one of these "picky eaters" to Europe a few years ago and laid down the law. She would eat where we ate, if she didn't like the food she would just sit there, we would not make special "stops" etc for her "dining habits" She survived just fine. This girl will too and not being catered to will be good for her. (I can gurantee that she's being "catered" to at home.)

IMHO this is probably the parent's fault (My picky eaters Mom admitted it was her fault, I have known her for years and she admits to "spoiling" her etc...)

I thought my seven year old was picky, but she'll eat tons more than BFF. I made all my ADRs and there was something for her at all of them even if it is just bread and water:lmao: You might consider buffets, especially breakfast buffets. If all else fails, she will be a little hungry while she is on a wonderful trip that she will never forget. Tragic! :rolleyes1
