Advice needed

I haven't read the other responses, but go to your prom!! Don't miss out. I went to my prom without a date. My best friend and I had a blast (she was dateless also). While everyone else had to keep their dates entertained, we did what we wanted and had so much fun!

Go with your friends!!!

I am not sure that I understand your moms reasons for her opinion. But, remember, it is just that... Her opinion.

I am thinking, do not let her make that decision for you. You are a big-girl now! ;)

Things do not always work out just perfectly. That is no reason to bow-out. Get out there and participate!

You probably have already bought a dress and made hair appointments!?!?!?!? I would go, it is really all about the dress anyway isn't it? :goodvibes Have fun! Once your friends that are going with just "friends" get there they will just scatter from each other just like in the halls at school.

Wow. I didn't expect this many replies. I have really thought about it and I think I am going to go. My father actually thought it was a great idea. I do have a dress and it is really pretty so I might as well go. Last year, I didn't stay with my date much anyway. I will let you guys know how it went after the prom. Thanks for the advice.

Absolutely go!!!!!! And have a great time.

My best girlfriend didn't have a date when we went to our senior prom. She was the only one in our group that didn't have someone and let me tell you...she had a better time than the rest of us. 2 of the couples ended up arguing the whole night and the rest of us girls winded up hanging and chit chatting together more than we hung out with our dates. Go and enjoy!!!!

My friend had a similar thing happen to her and she wound up asking a popular teacher for help. The teacher asked her classes to see if anyone didn't have a date and was interested in going just as friends. She wound up going with a really shy guy and had a very good time.

Here's another vote to go and have a great time. :)

Go if your friends said you could ride with them especially. Just think your picture will be pretty no goofy guy next to you who 10 yrs from now you won't even know where he is more than likely. In my junior year my AP bio teacher was on the prom committee and he "volunteered" all his ap students to decorate and man the refreshment room for the prom, I was with all my friends-guys and girls and we had a blast. The next year I wanted a date so I went with one and had a boring dull time. I remember my junior prom more fondly than my senior. Your Mom is probably afraid you will feel let out and you are still her baby girl and that is the last thing you want your baby feeling- I'm sure she would rather of been hurt than you. Just let her know you are confident and ok.

For fun I would be tempted to send him a bill for my dress, shoes, hair, etc. since he backed out of a "contract" just for a reaction. What the heck send a copy to his parents to! since he is a minor probably.

GO!!!! Don't miss out on your prom because of a jerk. The others might have dates but how many of them are actual boyfriends? Probably not most. I know I went to prom in a limo of 22 close friends. Only 2 in the limo brought boyfriends as dates. All the other dates were just friends. At prom, all the guys hung out at the tables talking while the girls danced. The whole point of prom is to go out for a night on the town with friends. I thought prom was going to be a waste of my time and money. But all my friends were going so I joined in. I ended up having a ton of fun! I'm glad I didn't miss it. Go, look gorgeous, dance the night away, and have fun! :cool1:

Hey Dana, did you see my post??!! :rotfl:

Buckalew, you are so cute! I totally missed that yesterday.

Man, this brought back some memories, didn't it?!
My Sr. Prom was a blast!! I went w/ my boyfriend, even though I found out a few days before hand that he had been cheating on me w/ a girl from another school. Anyway, we took my car and the place was about 45 minutes from our town. I had him take me out to a really expensive place for dinner, bought the biggest/most expensive package of pictures, danced w/ everyone, but him. About halfway through the evening, I walked up to him, gave him his ring back and told him he would need to find another way home. Then I went back to dancing w/ my friends!! The really funny part was when he went up to his brother, a great friend of mine, and asked him for a ride home....he said no way!! (he ended up having to get a cab because no one would give him a ride!!) oh, and when the pictures came in, i shredded them and mailed them to him!
I really did have a great time dancing & hanging w/ my friends all night!
You really need to go! Don't let some dufus ruin your night!
