Hi
Just wondered if anyone has had any experience travelling with a child who is not part of their family. We are going from the UK and taking DD's friend who will be 14 at time of travel.
Her parents have done a letter through their solicitor giving us permission to take their daughter with us and it has been notorised. We also have medical permission should she need it.
Struggling to find another family who have been through this situation.
Any advice as to how customs treat the party, as she will have to fill in her own customs form, and go through separately to us?
Any help would be really appreciated.
Thanks

I've taken sports trips to the US before and we just did the same, took permission letters, medical forms etc. Didn't have any problems at customs, all the kids had to go through seperately so yes I think your DD's friend will need to fill in her own form and go seperately to you through the queue but it need not be a big deal.

Your DD friend will fill out their own custom form (it is by last name is what I'm always told since fiance and I live together but aren't married) but I believe since she is a minor they would let her approach with you guys and turn over her documents at the same time.

Besides that I don't forsee them asking but when you go through customs have the letters in your carry on so you can easily access them if asked.
