Advice needed: Reasonable camera with a good zoom

I currently own a Canon SD1400 and have exclusively used Canon cameras for the past 10 years or so. Last week, much to my dismay, I discovered at my son's graduation, that the zoom on my camera is terrible! I really would like to buy a new camera that takes great pictures up close and far away as well. I'd like to spend no more than $200. Thanks in advance!
