have just recieved an email saying :scared1:

We recently noticed an attempt to log on to your paypal account from France, a foreign IP address and we have reason to believe that your account was used by a third party without your authorization.
If you recently accessed your account while traveling, the unusual log in attempts may have been initiated by you. Therefore, if you are the rightful account holder, click on the link below to log into your account and follow the instructions.
Then it gives a web site (paypal.com blar blar blar)

then it says after this

If you choose to ignore our request, you leave us no choice but to temporarily supend your account. :confused3

this is from paypal account review department, paypal, an ebay company.

We used ebay a couple of years ago to sell something but never sold the item nor have we brought anything from this site .
Has anyone else had this email come through like this.
I'm not going to click on to it as it might be one of those scams:scared1:

I'm sorry I can't offer any advice as I don't have a Paypal or Ebay account - but I must admit it does sound suspicious

I hope that someone can help you with this problem

Mandy :)

I get these every day. DO NOT respond to it and report as spam.

I have seen anything like this and we use Ebay/Paypal a lot !!

Thanks for this Florence....... just incase I do get an email, now I will know what to do :thumbsup2

It is very possibly a scam. If it is and you respond to the email, the originators know they've hit on an email address of somebody who has a paypal account. In a while they'll send another with a **** and bull story ending with a reason why they now need you to input your paypal password, then hey presto - They can spend your money.

Just delete it. Log into Paypal in the normal way and click on the tab marked Security Centre at top right. There you'll find all the ways to make sure you're protected and not giving any info out. Read all about Phishing, (scam emails), on there.

It is definitely spam. I have had several of these and spotted it was spam. The only link that works is the one that takes you to what looks like the front screen of the paypal site. When you then login in it records the information and the theiving ******** have your details.

If you hover over any of the links in the email and check the bottom-left hand corner you'll see that it doesn't show the paypal url. They are geting cleverer these scammers! One of the original ones I got had spelling errors on it which is one of the things that alerted me to it being spam, but I have to say it looked convincing. I only use Paypal for my ebay account and my registered name is different to my paypal name which is another way I can tell spoof emails.

When you login to Paypal through the official site, if there are any problems with your account it will tell you then. You should never go though a link on an email to the site. Always check that the site you are on starts with https://as this is a secured site.

Forward it to spoof@paypal.com and then delete it :thumbsup2

Having had £17,500 worth of stuff bought from my stolen ebay ID I can wholehartedly say DO NOT REPLY to any e-mail sent to you (I didn't do that just in case you're wondering how my ID was stolen!).

If it is official it will say so when you log in to ebay or paypal.

Report these as spam immediately.

Thanks guys for that info am going to report it right now to spoof paypal & spoof ebay.
I knew someone would know what to do :thanks: :disrocks:

we used to get these all of the time , you won't get just one! If paypal or ebay want to contact you they will leave a message for you once you have logged onto your secure area. ebay have a thread somewhere of all the current scams.

We sold a mobile on ebay and were contacted by 4 different people from Nigeria who wanted us to send the phone asap for their daughter/son, really long personal letter. needless to say we didn't ;)
