Hi Everyone,

Ok so as i may have mentioned once or twice on some other threads i have just returned from Florida today.

For our last meal in Florida on Thursday night we booked dinner at the UK Rose & Crown as this is where me and DF wanted to have our wedding reception and DP.

Unfortunately the whole evening was RUBBISH! Table was booked for 7:40pm they didnt seat us until 7:50pm which of course they can be forgiven for.

We were given menus straight away but after 15 mins no one had come back to take our order... we had not even been asked what drinks we wanted. We had to ask for someone to take our order... which they did.

Now considering we sat down at 7:50pm we did not get our main meals until 9:15pm!! Halfway through Illuminations... a couple of the staff were just watching the show rather than working, which in my opinion is fine if all guests have been sorted. Due to us not getting our dinner until late we were obviously still eating it when the show finished and then the staff started to sweep the floors around us (we were on the terrace), they didnt ask if we wanted a dessert menu... we had to ask them 3 times!

Then someone came with the dessert menu and said they'd be right back but that took time for them to come back to us... we left the table at 10:30pm!

Surely 3 hours give or take is way too long for service? Anyway my quandry now is do we still have our wedding reception there as i would hate to have shoddy service on my wedding day. DF thinks it was just a bad night for them which i understand restaurants have but it wouldnt have hurt them to acknowledge they had been poor and to explain the reason for this (lack of staff, chef off sick etc) instead we were hardly spoken to at all.

We are saving up so hard for this day just like everyone else and i would hate to give my money to a place that doesnt care about my custom or my feelings... do you think if we were to spend our reception money with them they would make more of an effort or is that generally what their service is like?

Sorry for the moan, i was just trying to set the scene lol

That certainly sounds like there were many reasons for your service. There probably was no way to pin it down to one reason. I have eaten there before and gotten very good service. Also, if they know it is your wedding reception odds are they will give you a great server and many people will be making sure everything is going right. They'll understand how important a night it is for you and do their best. Perhaps you should bring up these concerns when making your reservation. That way they know what you'll be looking for and they'll have an opportunity to change your view of them. Good luck!!!

Thank you... im having a wishes wedding so i'll maybe mention my concerns to my wedding planner (when i get one) so she can bear this in mind when she makes the booking.
