Advice Needed on transportation between WDW and Universal

We will be arriving on Sunday June 24th. DH is at a conference at CSR until the 29th. We plan on using Magical Express to get from the airport to CSR that day. We will be checking out on the 29th and headed to the Marriott Fairfield Inn and suites for 4 days at Universal.

What do you suggest for transportation from the 29th on? Should we rent a car? Or should we take a taxi to the hotel, rely on the hotel shuttle to get to the parks then take either a taxi or shuttle service back to the airport on July 3rd?

I can't decide how we want to do this so I'm looking to you for advice on how you might handle this.

I'd rent a car since you are not staying onsite at Universal. That way you'll also have a car to get back to the airport. While you are at CSR, you could rent a car from Alamo at Swan/Dolphin or the Disney Car Center. Several of the Downtown Disney hotels have car rental available also, so you could take a bus over there to pick up the car.

If you decide to do a taxi from CSR to Universal and later decide to rent a car, there are several options at Universal. The Universal resorts have Hertz car rental. While we were staying at Universal, we used Budget Car Rental at the Holiday Inn right across the street. It was easy to walk to from the park. There is also a Doubletree right next to the Holiday Inn.
