Advice needed on double strollers, especially the sit 'n stand ones

I'm thinking for our upcoming trip, investing in a new stroller might be best. Our umbrella stroller has just about had it. We have DS4 (35-40lbs) and DS1 (20lbs?). I'm seeing some of these double strollers where the bigger child can stand and possibly sit in the back, and thinking that might be the way to go.

Anyone have any advice on these? It would be something that has to be able to collapse when we use the busses. Also, being able to recline the little one would be great as well.

TIA

We do not have a sit and stand. We skipped it b/c I knew my dd would not want to sit in the back all the time. We have a sbs double - the Maclaren Ralley Twin. It's a great double. Fits my 2 perfectly, folds down small enough to be pretty easy on the bus.

we had the fisher price sit and stand , and it really was too heavy and bulky. we bought it second hand and gave it away after a couple of months on this one the baby cant recline if the big one is sitting, the big kid has to stand for baby to nap, did not make for a a happy four year old and i only used it at home i cant imagine lugging it on the bus. we are going in aug with ds5 and dd2 and plan on renting a double from an orlando company not disney.

YES!!! We bought the Baby Trend Sit-N-Stand from Target and love it. Our kids are pretty small for their ages, but we can easily get three of them on it (one sitting in front, one sitting in back, and one standing) and it is still easy to push and maneuver. It folds down easily, is fairly lightweight for its size, and compared to all these fancy name brand strollers I have read about on here, it is affordable. It is also worth the value, as we have had ours for over two years and it still works great. When out in public with it, we have had nothing but positive comments from strangers.

The front seat reclines, comes with a removable snack tray and canopy, and has a seat belt with middle leg strap adjustable belt. The back seat has a belt as well, and the standing platform is wide enough for a preschooler's feet to comfortably rest on.

Just an FYI on the sit and stand strollers. We looked a year ago at them, but couldn't find one that had enough room for the second child while the seat was reclined. When the seat is in the recline position, it takes up all the room in the back.
We ended up purchasing the Graco Quatro Tour Duo and really like that. It folds up a little smaller than the Graco duoglide, but it is still huge! I've also heard GREAT things about the Maclaren double. We don't own one, but we do own a Mac Quest and absolutely love that. If the double is anything like that (which from what I've heard it is) I would sooooo buy that one. Folds up small, easy to push, and has some storage....what more could you want!!!!!!!

We have the sit n stand and I would never take it to Disney (sorry)! My kids currently weigh 25 & 40 lbs and that thing is a pain to push. When both are in, it's heavy and difficult to turn. We used two Chicco umbrella strollers on our last trip to disney and will again in December - it worked out great! It was also nice to be able to split up with two strollers for bathroom breaks, diaper changing, etc.

We bought a Baby Trend Sit-N-Stand for our May '08 trip for our 6 & 2 yr. old. It is big, bulky, and doesn't turn on a dime like the WDW rentals but we loved it and it will be going back with us later this year. We also saw more of these in the parks than ever before. ::yes::

We had our own vehicle so I can't comment on getting this stroller on or off of the buses but it worked like a champ in the parks. The oldest loved being able to ride and even fell asleep sitting up in the back one evening. We found that it was easier to push when he was sitting down than when he was standing and we kept the amount of stuff in the basket down to a minimum to keep the total weight down. There were only a few times when the youngest wanted the back of the front seat reclined and during those times the oldest had to either stand or walk.

My sister just had her 3rd boy in Feb. and she bought the Joovy Caboose...I highly recommend it! Her kids are ages 4, 2.5, and infant. I've always done her stroller research for her:) Within the family we have tried the Combi Twin Savvy, and the Compass tandem (no longer made). The Joovy is by far the best ever!! All three kids can ride on it: the infant in the carrier in the front, one sitting on the bench, and one standing.

Warning: Joovy Caboose and "Sit and Stand" brand are two different strollers. I do not like the Sit and Stand brand...it is much bulkier and harder to maneuver!!

I also love the Maclaren brand "umbrella type" strollers, but have never tried any of the doubles.

Like someone else already posted...we also bought the sit and Stand stroller at Target. It is wonderful. It is not difficult to push or get around with. We are constantly getting commetns made about it and asked where we got it. We took it to Disney last October and all kinds of people would make passing comments of how that was what they needed also. We will be taking it again this fall.
