Hi everyone, We have trip planned for Sept 12 -21st. I can make my ADR's next week. Last time we went was Sept. 2006-Me, my DH and 2 grandkids. THIS time we have Grand Gathering. 7 adults,3 kids (ages 9,7 and 2). 2 Adults and littlest grandkid's first time @ WDW.
Last time we ate @ Boma, Cinderella's Royal Table @ the castle (lunch). Liberty Tree Tavern, Garden Grill, Sci Fi diner and Mama Melrose's (Fantasmic dinner package), Donald's Breakfastsaurus , 'Ohana (for dinner) and Chef Mickey.
Don't care to do the Castle, Sci-fi or Breakfastaurus again. I would like to try some new places this time. I would like to try Crystal Palace, either for B'fast or dinner (which is best?),Coral Reef, andWhispering Canyon Cafe @ WL. I have done WCC years ago but never done C.Reef or Crystal Palace. Also am considering 1900 Park fare for dinner, and California Grill just for DH and I (anniversary is Sept.14) if I can get it ( what time is best there to get the firework experience w/dinner,too?).
Anyone have any other ideas? What have been your favorites with a mixed age group? We like the character dinners, but we aren't sure how littlest Grandson will react to characters,so not all ADR's have to be character. We would like to go back to 'Ohana and Boma.
I am the planner, so basically everyone is going along with what I plan. All advice is most welcome. thanks! Oh Yeah...we will all have the DDP and are hoping it will be free!

We tried the Coral Reef this past October and LOVED it! My family all enjoyed their food and the veiw of the fish swimming around in the giant tank was so unique.

We are also fans of WCC. Very fun for the kids. We also enjoy Ohana for the same reason although the food and activities for the kids are very different.

I am not sure which hotel you will be staying at, but Cape May cafe for breakfast and spoodles for dinner are wonderful.

My family has also enjoyed Biergarten for a large group. Dancing and fun. Food was okay, not my favorite but I would still go again.

I would love to do Tusker House this coming trip but we don't have the time. I REALLY enjoyed it as counter service and I'll bet it will make a great character breakfast spot. I agree, Breakfastsaurus is not on my return list. We were really disappointed with the food there. Oh well, it is gone now anyway!

Good luck! It is really fun to plan all of this isn't it? It's one of my favorite parts!:goodvibes

Which grand gathering are you doing? We are signed up for the Epcot one

We definetly recommend CR and CP. These are both "must-do's" for us on the DP. We usually stick with dinners on the reg plan, as they provide the best food and value. Park Fare dinner is great because the food seems a bit more upscale than some of the other character meals. Chef Mickey's is extremely fun for all ages, although the food leaves a bit to be desired. You may wish to try the Princess meal in Epcot this year, because they are raising the price and including the photo pkg starting in April. At this point, it is still one credit on the DP. The food is a bit different, so check the menu on Allears. This year, we are doing the DXDP. I just finished my preliminary ADR spreadsheet today!

On a non-character meal note, I would like to recommend Le Cellier (Canadian Steakhouse in Epcot) and Kona Cafe @ the Poly. I find Le Cellier to be the best meal in all of WDW and certainly a place where children can go and enjoy the meal as well! Kona Cafe has great food as well and you're only a quick monorail ride to/from the MK. Just MHO of course!
