DBF and I are headed to POR on Sunday and we are planning on getting lots of pictures taken of us. I have rosacea, so I'm going to be wearing full makeup every day - foundation, concealer, powder. I don't want to have a red face for all the pictures. :)

I also plan on wearing a high SPF sunscreen every day. So which do I put on first, the makeup or the sunscreen? I know it is a dumb question, but I have fair skin so I need to protect it, and I don't want to look back on the pictures and see nothing but my red face.

TIA!

The ideal thing would be to have make up with the sunscreen already in it. Check your foundation as it may have SPF 15, most of them do now. If not, apply your sunscreen first, then your make up. Have a great time and Happy Birthday!

Nutrogena makes a wonderful non-greasy light weight sunscreen. It comes in 30, 45 and 70 SPF.
If you use a liquid foundation, you can mix it with the sunscreen in your palm and then apply it. It will "thin down" the makeup for a lighter look.

Clarins makes a primer that has sunscreen that you put on underneath your foundation and it also helps to hold your foundation in place. Sometimes sunscreens actually makes your foundation kind of slide off, but this one doesn't. I'm sure other cosmetic companies also have it but that is the only I've tried.

I'd recommend a sunscreen made for faces. Neutrogena has a really good selection of obscenely high SPF (woohoo!) for face and for body.

As others have said, use the sunscreen first. I use Bare Minerals makeup over mine. It has a light SPF of 15 by comparison, and I was fine both in July and October in melting hot sun.

I could be wrong, but am thinking that the liquid makeup and powder will block the rays for you, so you wouldn't need a sunscreen.

But call the dermatologist. He not only knows more than we DISers do, he knows you, your history, your condition. He might even know things you don't.

What Marilee* said! I am very fair and have really sensitive skin (not rosacea exactly) and I use this stuff:

It only takes a very light coat. I then also use Bare Minerals foundation and make-up, which has been a blessing to have found! In addition to covering up anything very naturally, it has an SPF 15 all on its own.

I have very fair skin too and this is what I do and it works great and doesn't feel too heavy.

Clinique also has a great sunscreen for faces.
You can get it alone, or with a foundation built in (less "stuff" to put on :thumbsup2)

Rosacea sufferer here too.

I know that certain sunscreens make my Rosacea worse, so I would test them at home first to see one that works best for you

As for the make up having sunscreen in it, I too am very fair skinned and in Florida the Sunscreen in my make up is not strong enough to last there.

Another suggestion is to wear a brimmed hat to keep the sun off your face.

I actually like being in the sun as at least people think my face is red from the sun rather than just the way my face is.

I always put sunscreen designed for my face on first, then my make up, as I would like more than just the factor 15 that the make up gives.

Definitely check that it won't cause you further problems before going away!

Sunscreen first, for sure! But test it out before you go... I made the mistake once of trying a new skin lotion on a trip to disney and it was awful. It was supposed to be a sensitive skin product with sunscreen (Aveeno), but my skin wasn't used to it.

So make sure you get your skin used to your new regimen before you go! It's kind of like breaking in a new pair of shoes before you wear them all day in the parks... one should never wear a new pair of shoes to Disney, and likewise one should never initiate a brand new skin care regimen at Disney either.
