We are renting a mid size car for the two of us for one week (decent price). We are picking up friends at airport and will need a larger car for the second week. Currently we have two separate reservations. Returning the first car at the airport and picking up a larger car at airport an hour later. Same rental company. Should we have any issues as long as we get return receipt or the first car.

What issues are you concerned about? There should be no problem. You can have multiple cars reserved and ultimately rented for the same days. You might want to check to see if the larger car is avail for the entire period. It may be cheaper than piecing together due to the longer reservation.

Thanks, I’ll try that. We really didn’t want the larger car for two weeks but it might be less expensive. Both reservations are showing the website so I think it will be returning one and going inside to rent the second one. I just have never done this before.

You’ll have no issue. I returned a rental once and picked up another rental right after when a trip had to be extended.

I did back-to-back reservations at MCO (Budget, I think?), and there were no difficulties with the reservations. I definitely recommend checking the price for a single reservation since the wait to get a car can be long and frustrating with the attempts at up-selling. It would be much faster to just pull up at arrivals and have your friends pop in the car.

I would suggest joining the rental company’s free affinity program (Alamo Insider, Budget Fastbreak, etc.) so you can skip the counter for the second rental at least. Some companies may require a counter visit the first time you do a program rental so they can verify the driver license and credit card information on file, but you should be okay for the second rental even if that’s the case. We had to validate with Budget but were able to go straight to the garage/aisle with Alamo.

Shouldn't be any issues. You'll probably be quoted the week rate for each vehicle, which is the cheapest option for how long you'll have them.
