This is the first time visiting with my new husband and his 4 kids.... Plus my 2.... 8 of us! What is the best route as far as accomidations.... I have never stayed off site and was considering it due to cost of 2 rooms at the PC.

Any advice will be helpful!!!

Thanks!!

How does everybody get along?

Unless you say great, I would think being crammed into two hotel rooms might not be so pleasant.

If it were me, I would rent a house or condo, with plenty of room for everyone to have their space. I am betting you have a range of ages, so even if you are only there to sleep not everyone will be ready to sleep at the same time.

We're a family of seven (six over the age of 20) so I've been considering some of my options too. I can get two rooms at a value (with a Disney Visa discount) for around 60.00/night per room. This gives us two bathrooms, but no cooking facilities. You have too many guests for the homes at Fort Wilderness. I'm going to consider renting points from a DVC member for a 2 br villa. I should be able to get that for around 200.00/night.

The only thought I have about staying offsite is we actually 'want' to have disney transportation. Many times one of the kids was feeling bad, or DH was tired, or for whatever reason - some of our group decided to go back to the room while the others wanted to stay. If we'd stayed offsite, this wouldn't have been available. And -no- I was not going to rent two cars!

Have fun!

We are a family of 6 and always get two connecting rooms at a value. It is the most affordable way for us to stay on-site and as the pp stated, we have two bathrooms and plenty of room. Plus you can only get the Disney Dining plan if you are staying on-site and, depending on the age of your children, that can save you a small fortune. There is just no way I could feed my kids on $10.00 per day (the cost per child per day) in WDW without the plan. With all of the on-site perks like free transportaion, extra magic hours and the dining plan, I just can't see us staying off-site.

I've been where you are! In 2004 we had my 3, his 2 and our 1 (6 kids). We elected to stay off site in a 3 bedroom condo. That way everyone had their space (including us!) Other perks included a jacuzzi bath in our room, internet access, full kitchen, washer&dryer....you get the picture. I love staying on-site but at that point in our lives that was the way to go. The place we stayed has been sold so I hesitate to recommend it as the ownership has changed, but I'm sure you can find a great deal with recommendations from the boards here. Have a great time!

Just wanted to point out that it can be a challenge to fit 2 adults in a bed at a value resort. LOL

We have only stayed on site once! Since we found a house to rent, 4 bedrooms our own screened in pool and hot tub and less than $125 a night:cool1: Once I saw the rooms were only 210 square feet I kinda didnt want to stay in a hotel they call a resort :lmao: try justfloridavacations.com
we have stayed in one of their houses before and are set to go back next year too! :thumbsup2

We always stay off site. I love having our own space, pool with hot tub and washer and dryer. Also it saves us money with meals. We cook breakfast every morning and eat dinner at least 2 or 3 time in the house.

My siters and I are renting a 6 room house with heated pool and hot tub for $1,100.00 for the week. Split that 3 ways each family pays alittle less that $400.00. I don't think you can beat that.
