Advice Needed: Flawed Event Pin

I recently traded for the Epcot Walt with Figment pin and base event set. The set was still factory sealed in the box, as it was issued to guests attending the event.

The problem is, the way the pin and base apparently were packaged, as the base was resting on the pin, creating a sizable and noticable indentation on the pin.

Does anyone know if Disney will replace defective or flawed event merchandise and if so, how would I go about it? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance...Disneyboy

I think I would call event services and ask them. I know that there should be around 1500 extras of that pin (wasn't it supposed to be LE 1000? It's stamped 2500)...they had lots of them on display in the merchandise pick up tent.

When we picked up our event gifts, the CM opened every single box (there are five of us), and made sure we examined everything on the spot. So I'm not sure how you could have a "factory sealed" box.

Also, the rumor was that while the pins were stamped LE2500, they are really 1000. However, I doubt that, since a CM manager at the event told me they sold 1200 tickets. I guess no matter how you calculate that, they should have some replacements.

From past experience, you will have to go through event services to get a replacement on an event item. I think this is the correct email, but not sure: wdw.event@disney.com

Good luck!

As for Eeyore's Pal comment: "When we picked up our event gifts, the CM opened every single box (there are five of us), and made sure we examined everything on the spot. So I'm not sure how you could have a "factory sealed" box."...I cannot attest to that, as I did not attend the event. However, the box I received was factory sealed; not shrink-wrapped and not zip-lock bagged.
The pin was still sealed in it's little baggie too.

Unfortunately, due to improper packaging of the base and pin (or perhaps shifting during all the handling) a sizable indentation was left in the pin.

Thanks all for the advice. I'll try contacting Disney.

I would be interested in knowing how you made out. You may want to have the person who got the set contact Disney. They may ask for a reciept showing that you bought the item. And as far as checking them... Well some CM's did and some did not. I looked at mine after I got the bag over to another area.

I think Nat has a good point.....

You may need the original recipient to check with event services, or maybe not.

I know for the higher edition event LEs, like the ones on the RSPs, nobody asked for names when you turned in a broken one.

On the other hand, this was the breakfast gift -- so they might check it against the list.

Hard to figure out if they would really care that you were not the original recipient.

I mean it's not like they don't know we trade pins!
