Advice Needed -Christmas Week - Update

We normally book our trip, 11 months out, but unfortunate lately due some family issues couldn't do that this time. We are looking for a studio for 1 week during Christmas week. Our preferences in order were:

Aulani - only had 2 nights available
GCV - only had 1 night available (can get Paradise Pier or Disneyland Hotel using points for the week)
WDW - none of the resorts had availability for the whole week (we could get a split stay - 2 nights BLT, 3 nights SSR, 2 nights SSR 1 BDR)
HHI - week available

Not sure what to do...we were hoping to do something different this year...

Which would you pick? Any chances of some the availability changing?

If it were me I would do Hawaii. Thats different.

Hilton Head weather can be cool in late Dec. Given the limited availability at GCV, that may not open up if waitlisted. Aulani would be great, but I doubt that a WL would work well there, as I would think that most people planning a trip to Hawaii ovet the Christmas holiday have fairly solid plans and are not just traveling on a whim.

I would probably take the WDW rooms available and waitlist a studio for those last 2 nights at SSR if you are wanting a studio for the entire stay. You could even WL the first two nights in an SSR studio (you can have two WL's) and maybe both would come through allowing you to stay at SSR the entire week.

That is such a hard week to get at WDW at this relatively short notice. I'd take the split stay and waitlist, as Kidanifan suggested.

In fact, I'd do it right now. Availability could change quickly for that time of the year.

You posted last week on the thread to Share a Christmas Tree at WDW since you will be there Christmas week you wanted to participate in using the Christmas Tree. What happened? Did you have a reservation and something happened to it?

Are you sure about the week at HHI? I just got 2 nights(yesterday) 12/29-12/31 after our 4 nights at VWL(12/25-12/29) and the only thing I could get was a studio(we asked for 1 bdroom). We usually do a couple of nights at HHI before or after our xmas week wdw dvc trip...it seemed pretty booked.

CarolAnnC - we did hold the week at WDW but I was just trying to see what others thought. Wasn't sure if it was the best choice since it was a little complicated.

Looks like people still think WDW was the best pick...

Called in this morning to check on availability and there were some changes...

What we had:
2 nights ~ BLT studio (lake)
3 nights ~ SSR studio
2 nights ~ SSR 1 BDR

Waitlist at BLT for 5 nights in a studio lake view. (DH's favorite resort is BLT)

What we now have:
2 nights ~ BLT studio (lake)
1 night ~ BLT studio (standard)
2 nights ~ BLT studio (lake)
2 nights ~ SSR 1 BDR

2 waitlists ~ 1 night BLT and then 2 nights BLT

Although, we have one more actual room change, we're at least getting closer to one full week in one single resort.
