My DH and I are considering relocating to FL; does anyone have good websites or books to recommend?
We'd also like info on homeowners insurance rates and tax info if anyone knows where to find that.

Thanks!

Where in Florida would you like to relocate to? There are sevral newspaper web sites that would be helpful.
If you move to Central Florida your insurance rates will be lower compared to South Florida, etc.

the Ft. Meyers area - I think that's considered southwest FL

Many towns down here have their own websites so when you decide on a specific town, Google it. Chances are you'll find something on the net.

I'd also take a look at some of the threads right here on the CM discussing FL. You can learn a good deal by doing that. Find out some rather surprising things, too. ;)

Good luck with your relocation! I would suggest renting for a little while before you buy. Two reasons: 1. you get a true idea of the best places to be and 2. the real estate market is FALLING, you will get a better deal in about six months. (we are trying to sell a rental property and things are incredibly SLOW)

My cousins just relocated to SW FL. Their neighbors complain about the high taxes....$1400 per year on a brand new house. :lmao: :lmao:

We pay more than that per quarter here in the property tax state of NJ.
