Advice for getting TiW Discount on CRT

What's your best advice for getting the TiW discount applied to a big family meal at CRT. There are 8 of us, and only one younger child, so the $80 difference is a big deal.

read (haven't done this myself) is that people with the TIW have presented the card at CRT at the meal and were given a gift card for the difference.

Would we be able to turn around and use the gift card at Crystal Palace the next day? ... or better yet, just go back to our hotel, and apply it to our hotel room balance that night?

I can't see why not. We've used gift cards towards room balances before, and it seems unlikely that the ones handed out at CRT would be treated differently.

We have had it done two different ways: they either gave us a gift card with the balance or they put the credit back on our credit card that held the ressie.

When we ate there in July, they put the difference back on my credit card. It was not a problem and the CM knew exactly what to do.
