Disney World = Lots of Walking and hurt feet. Does anyone have advice or solutions for taking care of your feet while at Disney World?

Don't wear new shoes...I recommend wearing tennis shoes (running/walking shoes). Make sure they are well broken in.

Other than comfy shoes--if you need new sneakers or shoes, buy them well in advance of your trip and break them in! We always take good cushy socks.
We pack a package of moleskin just in case we get a blister...I usually cut it up before hand so we don;t have to pack scissors to cut it. You could soak your feet in the hot tub for some relief if your feet are tired from walking all day

I have a big problem getting blisters. How does the moleskin work? I've heard of it, but never tried it.

A well fitting pair of vented sneakers and clean, cotton, dry socks. If you are planning to go on Splash Mountain or Kali River Rapids bring an extra pair of socks packed in a ziploc. The shoes should dry quickly, but the wet socks will kill your feet.

I refrain from wearing my Birkenstocks during the day and stick to the sneakers. It is also good to take a mid-afternoon break and head back to the room and air out your feet. Sit down, go swimming, and rest just to get off your feet for a while. :)

At first sign of a blister (hot spot), cut a piece of moleskin and place it over the spot. It cushions and protects it. Even if you have a full-on blister, you can cut a piece of moleskin then cut out a spot for the blister and it cushions around the blister. It's WONDERFUL. Plus if you're prone to blisters, you can put moleskin in the spots where you usually get them, and it will keep you from getting them in the first place.

Totally Correct!! We used it for the first time last year and it works great!!! Pretty inexpensive also.

On our last trip I found that cushioned band-aids and then over it put sports tape, the thick stuff that has fibers in it, it stayed all day long.

On day one I thought I would be "stylish" and wear my cute but not comfortable shoes all day in the MK and got huge open blisters on the backs of both feet. With this solution above I was okay wearing sneakers the whole rest of the week and didn't feel my blisters rubbing or hurting at all.

:lovestruc :thumbsup2

I take an ibuprofen every morning before leaving for the parks. Makes all the difference in the world.

For those of you who get blisters, I also recommend moleskin. My sister gets blisters every time we go to Disney. She tapes her feet up every morning before leaving for the parks. She doesn't use band-aids since they curl up and cause more of a problem.

Sometimes the long flight home sitting on your butt isn't such a sad thing...

All of the above are great tips, and we use them all~:goodvibes

I also on take my Peppermint Foot Soaking stuff with me! :thumbsup2
After a long day in the park it feels soooo good.

I am sure any kind will work, but the peppermint is refreshing for your tried feet!:cool1:

Body Glide also works great at preventing blisters. Apply it to the places where you are prone to getting blisters before they have a chance to develop!

Coolmax socks are the best prevention for blisters. Coolmax is a special cotton/ply blend material made by 3M that wicks moisture away from your feet. Cotton socks do the opposite-- they absorb and retain moisture, then rub against your skin, causing blisters. You can find a variety of brands selling Coolmax socks at Target, Walmart and other stores.

A good broken-in pair of New Balance walking shoes help tremendously.

Thanks so much for the tips! I am adding to my packing list:
Moleskin
Body Glide (Where can I find this?)
Foot soak (I use at home, but never thought of taking it with me!)

I read this tip before one of our trips years ago and it has worked everytime, it sounds weird but works. Spray your feet with deo/antipersprent before you put on your socks. It will prevent the blisters. It has worked for us for year!:thumbsup2

Good luck

Pack a tennis ball. When you take off your shoes, put the tennis ball on the floor and roll the bottom of your foot over it for a nice massage.

And for goodness sake, start walking at least a couple of weeks prior to the vacation. Get your body and feet ready for the trip. ;)

BODY GLIDE!!!!!!!

BODY GLIDE!!!!!!

BODY GLIDE!!!!!!!

I cannot stress this enough. I actually got mine at drugstore.com and I got the Avon equivalent on ebay, just by typing in Bodyglide. I spread it all over my feet each morning, used anti-friction socks and wore crocs and I had no foot pain at all, and I am very overwieght and out of shape...I wont go on vacation without the bodyglide!!!!!

I've learned (the hard way) that if you get a full-blown pedicure (which includes removing the dead skin from your heels - icky) that it makes the bottom of your feet too soft and sensitive. I get my toenails polished but ask them to not touch the bottom of my feet or heels.

Calluses can be a good thing when walking miles and miles and miles each day!

In my area I can get Body Glide at runner's stores and at Dick's Sporting Goods.

It is a great product and works well. I have even used it in between my toes and then wear Crocs and not a single blister!

Before Crocs and Body Glide I would have to spend time every night doing blister care to my feet. They would be a mess by the time I left for home and the last few days I would have to take Tylenol or similar to get through the day of walking.
