I had purchased tickets from AirMiles with an December expiry and also booked Animal Kingdom from a DVC owner back in January. With the way things are looking, December may seem unlikely for our trip to happen so I may look to salvage what I can.

Anyone have experiences/advice on what I can do or am I out of luck on a refund from AirMiles and the DVC piece? Not sure if my credit card can cover this under the insurance but if not, I'm guessing DVCrentals wouldn't refund me even in these circumstances?

Contact who you rented through as they may offer you partial money back if they can re-rent your reservation to someone else. In April Airmiles was refunding your miles for tickets purchased if you returned the tickets but not sure if they are still doing that - definately worth checking with Airmiles.

I agree with the above advice - it can’t hurt to ask. Just be prepared to hear “no”, as that’s one of the risks that DVC renters take in exchange for discounted accommodations.

The points that were used to make your reservation have an expiry date - it’s possible that there may be close to a year before they expire, in which case the individual who rented them to you may be willing to try renting them to someone else, but it’s also possible that they could expire right after your booking, in which case you may be out of luck. Hopefully it’s the former and not the latter.

The park tickets you purchased through Airmiles will retain the "value" Airmiles paid Disney for them. They are not a total loss. It's a bit of work to have that value applied to new tickets but maybe Disney will change the way they deal with this in the future. Currently you have to go to a ticket window to purchase "new" tickets. I'm hoping we will be able to do that over the phone in the future if they are linked to one's account.
