Advice for a newbie one day IoA visitor?

Hi...DH(64) and I(58) are planning a Disney trip and, being a Harry Potter devotee, would like to spend one, maybe 2 days at Universal.

Rather than try to sort through all these posts, hoping to get some good advice as to what we should do..
One or two days?
One or two parks?
Stay onsite or visit from WDW resort?

I would totally recommend 2 days/2 parks, and staying 3 nights onsite - Royal Pacific Resort is the cheapest.

This way you get free Unlimited Universal Express passes which allow you to jump the queues at all participating rides (exc. Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey) and also as a resort guest get an extra hour in the mornings before the park opens to the public. This is when you can experience WWoHP without many queues.

Universal Studios will be a nice change of pace for you I think, so def check that park out too.

We LOVE HP too and really liked WWoHP. The best plan for us was to stay on site and use the 1hr early entry to WWoHP and the Unlimitted Express Pass for everything else. We toured WWoHP during the EE--rode FJ x2, DDx4, drank butterbeer, went in the shops and spent a bunch of time just looking around. It was wonderful!

The Express Pass was totally worth the cost of staying on site. We rented a car at the CCC at WDW and then drove to PBH for the last days of our trip.

We spent one day at US and the rest of the day touring IoA. I would have liked one more day for IoA....more WWoHP for sure.
