Advice for a few nights at a beach?

Planning a 4 night Disney trip next month. Want to add 2 or 3 nights at a Florida beach (east or west coast). Any suggestions for family beaches? We've never done a Florida beach before. Are the Tampa area beach resorts still feeling the effects of last year's hurricane? (I saw that South Seas resort is still closed).

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi Ploto,

FYI---South Seas is in Captiva Island, which is about 120 miles south of Tampa. It's right off Fort Myers. Captiva got hit very hard by Charley last August, but Tampa did not.
