Advice? airport to hollywood studios

May try it anyway...and if we are running late just take the town car to the resort instead of HS. And if i need to suck up the deposit on the dining reservation, that's the price I pay for pushing my luck :-)

I guess my question is (and where $$$ makes a big difference) is that - do I need to pay for a full ticket to get into HS just for dinner? And if so, does my Park Hopper kick in the first time I use the bracelet? Or do I need to let Disney know when my Park Hopper should start?

It will count as a day off your ticket. There's no separate admission just for dinner.

Another factor to consider - flights later in the day are more likely to be delayed. Planes usually have more than one route in a day. If there was a delay from an earlier flight, it may affect your flight. We are going to Disney on Sat and our flight is scheduled to land at 8:30pm. I will be THRILLED if we are at our resort by 9:30pm (we have no checked bags and are renting a car)! Going to Disney is so exciting and I understand wanting to get the fun started. The stress of dealing with so many factors out of your hands will be very stressful (airport, airline, baggage, etc). I would avoid the stress and reschedule your dinning reservation for another night. If your flight is on time, you can always head to a theme park or downtown Disney if you are feeling up to it.

Have a great trip!

Okay..a few thoughts here. I don't think anyone here 'meant' to be judgemental or rude. But, sometimes posts come off that way. And yes, sending bags with DME and not riding the bus was mentioned, more than once. It can be done.....if more info is needed, please read the sticky at the top of the Transportation page.
But.....have you considered heading to DTD your arrival night? That might be fun. You can check out the shops, grab a bite to eat, without having to make an ADR that you could possibly miss. That would allow you to arrive without any stress!! Stressing is not a good way to start vacation!!!
