Advice about 'Ohana

Today I decided to change my Tony's ADR to 'Ohana. I had originally booked Tony's because I didn't want to have to leave the park. But I really want to try 'Ohana. My reservation is at 6:45. What time should I leave MK in order to get there on time? (Had to use credit card to reserve so I don't want to be late) And about how long does it usually take to have a meal there and get back into MK?

It's 3 stops on the Monorail (Contemporary, Transportation Center then Polynesian), so it should take about 5-10 minutes. Once you get off the monorail, you go in the doors right in front of you and it's on the other side of the lobby.

How long dinner will be is sort of up to you. They bring the main course to the table on skewers so you can eat all you want. There is also a show, but that's really for the little ones.

I would make sure your at the monorail at 615pm in that case. Just to be sure. You never know! Better to be early than late.

BTW, smart choice in switching from Tony's to Ohana. Tony's is horrid!

An alternative to the monorail, if lines appear long, would be to take the resort launch. I think if you left the park at 6:15 you should have plenty of time to get there. They generally want you there 15 min. early.

I would think it would take anywhere from 1.5 - 2 hours before you were back at MK, once you are seated.

I agree with leaving at 6:15. I have eaten at 'Ohana many times and usually the meal takes 45 mins to 1 hour. The food is already prepared since everybody eats the same things and I have found that it comes out fast and furious. Just try to save some room for the bread pudding desert if you can.

Thank you all for the advice! I know how long it takes to get around on the buses but I'm still blurry on travel times with the monorail.

We visited over Xmas week and had a 7 pm ressie at the Poly. I really wanted to see the 6:15 castle lighting, so I was worried about making the ressie on time. We had no problem. We left the hub around 6:20, rode the monorail and arrived at Kona in plenty of time.

I will say that the monorail can have problems when it is most inconvenient. You never know. However, I think the hostesses would be understanding if you were stuck on a monorail for a period of time. (Happened to us when we were leaving Poly going back to MK).
