Hello,

Does anyone knows anything about Adventures by Disney? I just look on the AP site and we have a discount but I am not familiar with it. Anyone planning on taking a trip?

I received a passholder email about this over the weekend. Apparently Disney is arranging trips to exotic locales, getting into the tour guide business. I guess if you're a passholder you get a 10% discount on these trips. I'm sure they're real expensive.....

I just received a huge book/phamplet from them. I must have requested it when I was looking at the site. It is very interesting, but no I am not planning a trip---yet :teeth:

They have a website and like somone else said you can request there info packet.. I am interested but I am not booking because it is very expensive.

Yeah cool website with the flash animation. It is expensive and the pricing is per person. I am not sure if is going to fit my budget. It is interesting the Disney decided to go that route. Pretty soon we will have the Disney Travel Agency. :teeth:

DH and I are contemplating the Quest for the West trip. There was a post on the trip boards probably last summer and it sounded really cool. It does sound a little bit too expensive but when we started searching other travel sites and adding up all the dining and side trips - it wasnt that bad - and anyways, its Disney of course its expensive!

I suspect that Disney isn't getting into the tour guide business, but rather contracting with some of the better escorted tour vendors out there to host Disney-branded tours.

DH and I looked into this because we want to go to Italy within the next few years. These trips sound awesome but, the price seems like it is through the roof. But, these trips include most of your meals, I don't know how expiensive it is to eat in these locations.

I will say that I wish that it included airfare from major airports to the locations. It says that all transportation from the "Home Airport" is included. After reading further I found that the "Home Airport" refers to the airport at the destination. So, you still have to pay for your flight from your home to the destination. The last time I looked the going rate for a round trip flight from Atlanta to Rome was: $1200/person

So for my family of 4 (if I am reading this correctly):

1 Adult: $3299.00
1 Adult: $3299.00
1 Child: $2799.00
1 Child: $2799.00

For a total of: $12,196
Less the 10% Discount: $10,976.40
Airfare: $4,800.00

For a Grand Total of: $15,776.40

I've never traveled outside of the US before, is this a good rate? If you planned the exact same things on your own (with out going through Disney) how much cheaper would it be.

Really, I'm just dreaming since the Disney Adventure won't allow my DS2 to come along (due to age restrictions). But, I think it would be interesting to see how it compares.

Personally, I'd aim to do Italy with Globus Tours rather than Disney. The quality is about the same (for all we know, Disney might be using Globus as their in-country folks), and the total price was $4300 TOTAL for both my wife and I, including airfare, for a nine day trip.

WOW, good to know! I will have to look into this!

Actually, let me back-away from that -- that was for a nine day trip to England and Scotland. Regardless, I believe Italy is only marginally more.

Globus is among the best in the business. We took a tour of Egypt with them and it couldn't have been better. They're not only in Disney's league, but really far beyond Disney because all they do is escorted tours. I highly recommend them.

I've traveled using Tauck Tours before. I can't recommend them enough.

I looked at the site and it looked really interesting. However, I can't see spending the money to do it. Depending on when I go and where I can plan a vacation for me and hubby for about $3,500 including airfare to various areas of Europe (for the two of us). True we might not stay at 4 and 5 star resorts, but the bed and breakfasts located throughout Europe are great places to stay and the Hostels are normally fairly nice as well.

So although I would love to do this, the price is way more then I would be willing to spend on a trip to Europe (plus going without a tour means I get to plan where I am going rather then having to follow the tour's plan).

I do know that they are fairly high pricewise though, my inlaws went to Paris last November and I believe spent $3000 for the both of them including everything and that was for 10 days. Tours however, would probably be a bit more expensive then this, but the Disney prices are still fairly high.

I'd second Bicker on the Italy with Globus thing. The 2 of us are doing a 14 day Southern Italy Tour with Globus for FAR less than the prices listed for the Disney Adventures. You didn't say how long the Italy trip with DA was....

I think (and please correct me if I am wrong) that the DA trips were all 9 days.

It sounds that Globus has a better deal, how do I contact them? Do they have a website too?
