Adventureland to remain open

Disney World has just recently announced that, for the time being, Adventureland will open along with the rest of the Magic Kingdom. They cited logistic problems as being the main reason for this decision, but an article on Mouse Planet also suggests that disgruntled cast members and public outcry could also be among the determining factors.

The whole thing was probably leaked to see how it floats. As Safari Steve indicated, the CM managment seemed in the dark about it, so we dodged a bullet. On the other hand, given some of the recent announcments, it could be that someone (probably Roy) gave mikey a slap up side the head. (note, if this is true, then YoHo would like AV to deliver pictures of it to YoHo's Pirate Ship Dock 92 right between Peter Pirate's and Captain Crook's

A decision like a delayed opening for Adventureland is almost certainly made at the local level, i.e. by WDW and/or Magic Kingdom management. And it was done only to hit certain financial numbers. It seems perfectly reasonable that the plan simply didn’t save enough money to put up with all the hassles.

It also means that cuts will be made to other areas instead.

I received a call from someone in the executive offices today concerning my email that I sent after hearing the news about the delayed opening of Adventureland. Yep - I was a part of the disgruntled outcry! I also mentioned a few other 'issues' I had with decisions that were being made at WDW that impacted guest satisfaction (Disney 'magic') and ticket/pass values.

Anyway, the CM assured me that the decision to delay Adventureland's opening had been reversed, as you already know. She did make a CYA statement to the effect that management might consider the matter again sometime. I was pleased that there was feedback on my email, and I am happy that the Adventureland delayed opening has been snuffed, but I am still concerned that the major problem - lack of 'Disney' vision - still remains.
