Does anyone else remember this ride? I used to love this attraction as a kid and I still remember the giant microscope you could see from the line and the giant snowflakes. I was always a little sad they removed it for Star Tours, although that is a better ride.

Oh yes! I definitely remember it! The ride vehicles looked exactly like the Haunted Mansion Doom Buggies, except they were blue! There was never any line for the ride, so you could walk right on it again and again. I loved it. That was definitely a part of the old Tomorrowland, and was kind of cheesy in that good Disney way, but I miss it! I can't believe Star Tours has been there since 1987, so that means Inner Space has probably been gone since 1986, right? I remember riding it in early 1986, but they must have removed it immediately after that. I also miss the People Mover and the old phone booths they used to have in Tomorrowland, where you could fit like 5 people in a booth, and you would all go in and sit on these seats and talk to the wall (the speaker was in the wall). Such fun retro-future stuff!

I actually do like Star Tours because of the motion simulator concept, but many folks feel the film is getting old and tired and needs to be changed.

I loved that ride too--I'm shrinking . . . . .

Anyway--was listening to an on-line radio thingie that plays Disney and they actually had the soundtrack of the ride-through--have heard it a couple of times--so cool to hear it again.

LOL--I do remember reading posts that some teens really steamed up that ride however!

According to wikipedia it was removed in 1985 but I don't remember that well. I also loved the People Mover and I hope they decide to bring that back since most of the track still seems to be there.

There's a big eye that will watch you as you walk in DtD as a nod to ATIS... if you miss it. I always think it's eerie!

:magnify: I always feel like, someone is watching me... lalala :magnify:

Wow, I could have bet money on the fact that I rode Inner Space in early, early 1986, because I remember the group of people I was with standing in the line for it! Oh well, I am probably losing my mind. Wouldn't be the first time!!!:rotfl2: I am sure Wikipedia is right. Or maybe I went with the group of friends in 1985 and not 1986 - that could be it!

Yes, that track for People Mover and the old Rocket Rods is just sitting there. I had almost forgotten that those Rocket Rods were there for a while, because there was a chunk of time between 2001 and 2007 that I missed going to DLR at all, so I was not around for a lot of the Rocket Rods activity. However, I DO recall that they were loud, and you could hear the humming of that ride echoing through Tomorrowland. They were not quiet like the People Mover. I guess to be able to have any kind of ride on that track now would require all kinds of rebuilding to meet code specifications. It just seems like in a futuristic land, there should be some sort of transportation going along that track!

Yes, I remember that ride! It was one of my favorites as a little kid- well, after the first time that I went on it, and I shrieked and cried the entire time because i thought i was actually shrinking! :rotfl: After my dad explained to me that I didn't *actually* shrink, just like the ghosts in Haunted Mansion aren't real and that the pirates in Pirates of the Carribean weren't really going to sink our boat, it was my new favorite. I liked how it got cold when the cars went by the huge snowflakes!
