This is why those who loved the AC don't deserve to have it back.
Everyone thinks it was some profit-generating venue and that Disney was foolish for shuttering it before its time. That Disney wanted to outsource DTD, particularly Pleasure Island, and the AC was a casualty of monetary warfare. Wrong. The AC was only open in the evening, thus killing off half of its potential revenue. It cost a lot to have cast members performing the shows and skits on a daily basis. The place did not accommodate enough guests to turn a healthy profit. All of these reasons lead to its closure. Furthermore, why would Disney -- which so many of you are convinced is only about the money -- close such a successful venture if it was doing so well? The building has sat empty for almost three years now when it could have been making money. That's proof it wasn't making money.
Now, there is a rumor of its possible rebirth, and how do the AC faithful reply?
"Oh, it's only CS? Then it's not worth it."
"Put it in the Rainforest Cafe." (which makes more money for Landry's and TDO than the AC ever did, btw).
"If they don't put on the shows, then they shouldn't bother. I want nothing to do with it."
So basically, according to you, Disney is damned if they do and damned if they don't. They can't bring back the old version because it was a failed business model, but they also can't do something new with it because it won't appeal to the fanboys of the original.
Get over yourselves. I highly doubt any of this will ever happen with the AC, but the best idea is turning the Adventureland Veranda area into an AC counter service (and, if not, then Tiana's, but that's another story). There probably wouldn't be any shows. There probably wouldn't be any adult aspects to the venue. Nevertheless, it is an excellent idea to re-purpose a dead pocket of the MK that has gone too long without usage, and bring back the spirit and decor of a concept that many of you seemed to enjoy. So again, I'll say get over yourselves. The AC as you knew it will never return. Be grateful and thankful to Disney for even considering a possible reprieve.
Why can't some of you just see the glass half-full? Is it really that difficult?
