advantix camera

I have a Fuji Endeavor which is like the advantix I really like it!

The film couldnt be easier to load. You just drop it in the slot.
No winding or anything.
Pictures are great, decent zoom, all around good camera.
Any other questions?

I just bought another Fuji but this one is a digital so far Ive had really good luck with them.

I have a Canon Elph and it's wonderfull!
It's about the size of a credit card and about 1 inch think.
I'm very happy with the quality of pictures. I find I don't use the panoramic very much. It doesn't eat up batteries any more than my 35mm camera.
Sometimes it is a couple more dollars to develop, but usually I can use the coupons for 35mm for my advantix. Not all drugstore or photo shops can develop advantix on site as well.
HOWEVER, just recently I've noticed that my local photo shop doesn't carry as much advantix film as they used to, and it isn't on sale as much. I also noticed this at Disney last week. I could still get film, but the choice may not be available (ie 100, 200 or 400) OKW gift shop only had 200 (which was fine)
I asked at my local photo shop and he thought that they may be phasing out advantix in favor of digital. This probably won't be for a few years, since advantix is so new. He did mention that 35mm will be around to stay.
You may want to check with Kodak, Canon or Fuji to see if you can find out the long term plans for advantix. I for one would be really sad to see it go.

I too have a Canon Elph and love it!!! I have since switched to digital, but I was very impressed with the quality of pics I got on my trip to WDW in 2000.

I use to have a Kodak, but I couldn't find it for my last trip so I bought a small Fugi and I really like it. It is smaller than the Kodak, but its really easy to use. I cost a little more to develop, but I love the index and the fact that the film can pop in and out of the camera without a problem. Its marked so you know if its new, being used, used and developed. I really like that feature!

I have an Advantix. I like it. Like Binny said, it's super easy to load film, and I love how it automatically rewinds the film and automatically gets the film ready for you when you load it. It's easy for my kids to use, lightweight, etc. It takes decent pics too. I think the film is just a little bit more than 35mm film, and the highest speed I can find in Kodak film for it is 400 speed (I prefer 800, Fuji makes 800, so I normally buy Fuji film-I wish I could find 800 in Kodak). I think the cost of developing it is about a $1 or so more per roll, but everywhere I've taken it to get developed, it has the thumbnail print with it too, that might be why it costs more. The only problem I have with it is it's too easy to switch between the 3 different sizes. But I fixed that with some tape.:teeth: I only need the regular sized shots, not the panoramic or the other size. I think there are actually 2 different kinds of Advantix's. I got the one that had the self-timer and I think it has another option than the regular one. I use my digital camera more often though.:) But anytime we go anywhere, I have both cameras with me.

Yzma and Kronk, I've noticed the stores are selling less of a choice of film (b&w film for my Advantix is getting almost impossible to find:( ). I thought they might be moving on to something else.:(

i have used several different Kodak APS (advantix, what-have-you) cameras at WDW and DLR with satisfying results.

I find the processing in my area to be significantly more expensive, and the film can be depending on the brand (Fuji is often less than Kodak).

Next trip, I am condering using my digital. Its a 3.2 MP by Olympus and I have a fairly large memory card, so I should be able to take well over 100 without having to transfer to my laptop.

Before I got my digitals I used several Advantix for a number of years and liked them a lot. I took one on our family WDW trip in '99, took almost 800 pictures. Not many for a digital, but quite a few for prints. Glad I did, LOL, nobody but me has been back. It worked great. Developing is a bit more, film selection less. I do think you will see more phasing down as digital really grabs hold, as it has been in recent years.

DH loves his. Although we have a digital camera, he will still his Advantix.

Same here. DH gave me the Fuji Endeaver 200ix for Christmas the 1st or 2nd year they were available (1998?). It was almost $200, then. The APS models have become more affordable since. I LOVE this camera! Rarely have I taken a bad shot and I've only had problems when the battery was weak. It has a 2x zoom, date-back, multiple flash modes and is very easy to use (I think). You can see scans of my WDW1999 pics along with my trip report at www.geocities.com/in10sblu98.

But, it's time to upgrade to a digital camera. I just bought a $45 Vivitar Vivicam 10 at Walmart (CHEAPest camera WITH A FLASH, primarily to list photos on ebay). Once I get the jist of how to use the flash mode I'll be ready to post pics. I'm hoping for something with more features, like zoom, higher resolution and an LCD screen, for this Christmas.

I won't be giving up the Fuji just yet. If anything it will be passed on to DD to replace her inexpensive 35mm camera.

We have a digital camera but it is hard to use. I decided to go back to a film camera. It just seems simpler.

Oh yeah I forgot about the thumbnails Browneyes :)

Love that!

Also I really like the feature on the film itself. It has numbers 1 through 1 being new unused film, 2 being some pictures are used ( some cameras allow you to take out one roll of film and put in another if you want to switch to black and white for instance mid roll) 3 being roll has been shot and 4 being developed.

I think you could go to www.mysimon.com and see what types they can find and see about reviews and prices there :)
Good luck! I love mine.

I had the Kodak Advantix T550 and it only lasted about a year and a half. I called Kodak about having it repaired, and they told me to buy a new one as they were basically made as a disposable. I won't buy Kodak again.

I bought the Canon Elph with zoom last Christmas, and I love it!
