Advantages to the Gran Destino Tower?

Hello All! I'm on the verge of booking a trip next summer for my family, and we've settled on staying at Coronado Springs for the first time. I noticed that there wasn't much difference price-wise for a Standard Room in the Gran Destino Tower and the "normal" Standard Room - only ~$400 more for the 7 nights total in the tower. What are the advantages to staying in the tower versus the normal standard room? My gut says that it's worth the splurge due to guaranteed proximity to things, but I was hoping for some opinions from those who have more experience with this property. Thanks in advance for any help!

The tower hasn’t opened yet so anything that anyone has to offer in the way of help would be pure conjecture and not based on experience. Once it opens later this month, there should be some reports filtering in.

Thanks for the response! I know the tower hasn't opened yet, but I still asked this question, as I thought - especially with the proximity to the main amenities, size of the property, etc., issues, which is my main reason for asking the question - that those who have prior experiences at CSR could chime in with respect to those issues. There are likely people here who have made the same decision - one way or the other - that I'm contemplating, and I'm interested in that reasoning as long as it's anything other than "the tower's new". Conjecture is okay with me at this point. :)

Never stayed at CSR but one benefit I know the tower will have is interior hallways. All other mods (and the rest of CSR) have exterior entrances.

We love Coronado Springs and have stayed there several times. Not sure what your family dynamic is but it appears that the tower bathroom area does not offer any privacy allowing for shared space. This will unfortunately be a deal breaker for my family. I do think a big convenience for some will be the ability to get morning coffee and dining right at the tower without having to walk further. I know others have mentioned the interior corridors but exterior hallways at Disney don’t feel the same to me as regular exterior hallways at chain resorts so that’s not a huge plus for us. The idea of staying in a brand new tower does sound appealing but I think we will still prefer to stay in the traditional resort areas.

I'm trying the tower in September - I've been elsewhere at CSR twice now. I am actually expecting a DISADVANTAGE of the tower will be the bus service. I am expecting they won't get this right - and either the bus will be full by the time it gets to the tower - or that the tower fills it and the rest of the stops are out of luck. I am hoping I am wrong and they have thought about this issue and have a plan in place.

I opted to try the tower simply because of the interior hallways and to see if I like being closer to the hub of the rest of the features of the resort. I usually like the remote feel of most of the rooms here, but hey, variety is fun. I'm also wondering what the view from the room will be. I dislike at the mods that you really can't leave your drapes open to look out unless you want everyone to see in. I'm hoping that I get a high enough room I can leaved the drapes open and get natural light.

Conjecture is the bus won't be affected all that much due to a lot of the tower guests being there for conventions. I think it will still be the last stop on way to parks - everyone said the only time you may have to stand/crowd is first thing in the mornings?

We are staying there next year and are beyond excited (first stay at CSR period). We saw the photos on instagram and this tower is GORGEOUS!

I've done a lot of research. You are right next to El Centro, so close to food court, the main pool is right across the bridge. 2 Bars right in the hotel - lobby and restaurant lounge on top floor. We booked a water view and I saw pics from the rooms and you can see the entire hotel! No balconies, but large windows that since you are up on higher floors you can leave curtains open! A standard view supposedly allows views of the DHS fireworks.

The bathroom isn't an issue for us - two adults and we don't need to be in there at same time.

I'm interested in how the Club Level turns out and if it's on par with a regular CL, or how much lesser it is. I'm strongly considering this as part of our split stay next year and am waiting for the info once it opens.

We are booked in to the Gran Destino Tower beginning August 23 for 10 nights. According to the Disney agent I spoke with at the time of booking, there are privacy doors in the tower rooms. I do hope the information I was given is correct, as it is important for us also with our 16 yr old daughter bringing a friend. We have stayed at the Deluxe resorts every other time before, but wanted the opportunity to stay in a new hotel (with our Canadian exchange at 40% loss it made sense). We are excited! I will be sure to update after our visit - not long to go now :)

We're going in October to try it out, but the only disadvantages we see are the shower/vanity setup and it being the last bus stop.

Can you share the link to the Instagram photos? Thanks!

The Club Level looks really nice based on the photos I’ve seen.

I’m booked there for August 2020 and looking forward to more reports!

Thank you so much for all your replies. You guys brought up some issues - like buses! - that I hadn't considered previously. Ultimately, the bathroom issue pushed me against getting a Tower room for the moment. My son will be 9 and my daughter 7 so old enough that we need some privacy. We spent a week at CBR last month, and the layout of the separate bathroom and vanity spaces there made the 4 of us getting ready in the morning go pretty smoothly.

We've now got a non-Tower room booked for next summer, and I can't wait!

Can somebody clarify lack of privacy with bathroom space? From what i recall the bathroom set up is like the deluxes correct? shower toilet in one room and then sink outside in the hallway part? or maybe I looked at the wrong photos

No, the toilet/shower/sinks are all in the same room.

instagram.

Check the Coronado Springs thread, tons of links/pictures.

OK I found the pictures now. OMG I do not know what to do now. We got a super agency special beginning of September with me my two kids and my mother. The way I interpret these pictures if you walk into the hotel room or are doing things by the closet you have a full view of the person showering? Is that correct. For us having only one sink shower toilet area is not And issue as to be honest I would rather have my sink area closed off too. This is always worked out with the four of us and I was never an issue not being able to split up that stuff. The issue is the full view of the shower there should be a sliding door or a curtain in the entryway of the bath area can anyone confirm if this is such? Because right now I am seriously considering canceling thank God I bought a back up pop resort with a discount as much as we would love to stay here and try this resort that might break it with my mother
