Are there any advantages to buying into DVC directly through Disney versus buying a resale? I actually have the hubby discussing it (huge feat!) and want to strike while he's still at a weak moment! :lmao: I know that the biggest advantage to resale is having all of the resorts to choose from, but is there any advantage to going the other way?

TIA!

it's faster and you can specify exactly the number of pts and UY month you want.

that's about it...

the biggest advantage of resale is that it is cheaper.

you can buy any resort directly - OKW, BCV, VB, whatever - you just have to pay more than you would for the same resort at resale....

We just bought through Disney this week. We liked that we could finance through them. We also liked that our contract goes through 2060. Most resales are less, with OKW one that we really liked being 2042.

Also there are no closing costs through Disney. We just purchased OKW through Disney and got the extended contract expiring in 2057. There are not many extended contracts available resale. It's quick and easy through Disney but as others have said you pay a premium for that.

the contracts end at the same time regardless of resale or direct purchase (with the only exception being that all direct OKW contracts end in 2057, while only a few resale OKW contracts end in 2057 and the rest expire in 2042.)

but BCV ends in 2042 and SSR ends in 2054 whether they are purchased direct or resale, for example.

Also there are no closing costs through Disney.

to clarify: this is true for "sold-out" resorts like OKW and BCV. not for current resorts like BLT, though.
