Advantage of small contracts?

Would it be smarter for me to buy one 300 point contract or three 100 point contracts? Is there a difference at all?

If you are buying directly from Disney, doesn't at least one have to be the minimum? Should you decide to sell your contracts in the future, the smaller contracts are more easily sold. You could buy the first one at 150 and then three more 50 point contracts for 300 points.

Actually, I think if all three were purchased at the same time, they would qualify for one contract, but I'm not exactly sure of that. Perhaps you are right that there would have to be one 150 point master contract and 3- 50point add on contracts.

That's what I always thought was true (if the first contract was purchased from Disney). I'd be interested to know if that's not the case.

As Deb & Bill have already stated, small contracts sell quickly. You rarely if ever see them last for a long time, if they even come up for sale on a re-sale web site. Many are sold before they even hit the open market.

I don't think they have to be 150, so long as you purchase 150 points or more I believe they can be split any way you like.

if I have 2-50 pt add ons, can I sell my original contract of 200 pts and still be a member in good standing with just 100 pts total?

If you buy directly from DVC and are not already an owner, they will require you buy at least the minimum of 150 soon to be 160 and that has to be in a single contract. The ONLY exception I know to this was someone on this board who did an add on of two 75 pt contracts but was able to get them titled with additional people that were not on the original contract making them separate contracts from the original one. If you are already an owner you can buy any mixture you want from 25 pt contracts to 100 pt ones to anything else you can think of that has a min of 25 and totals the number you want.

For 300 for a new owner assuming the same resort, I'd probably buy 150 + 100 + 50 OR 150+50+50+50 though you could easily vary it even more with smaller packages if you wanted. I wouldn't go odd size contracts to get to 300. If you ended up wanting an add size contract, I'd have one smaller contract as the odd sized one.
