Advantage of Preorder at BOG

A few weeks ago, I ate lunch at BOG. I did the preorder, and even though I arrived 25 minutes early for my ADR, it still took only about 5 minutes to get my lunch. I will be going back in a few weeks. My DS20, his DGF19, and my DS18 will be eating there for lunch. I suggested that they preorder, but one of them would like to see if they can substitute some of the sides. I noticed that some of the entrees allow you to choose sides, but the braised pork does not. What are their chances of being able to substitute on that entree? Also if they don't preorder, would the only disadvantage be that it takes longer? If so, how much longer?

Frankly, I think this pre-order thing is a scam. The party that has the most to gain if you pre-order is Disney. The more quickly they can get people in and out of there, the more guests they can serve, the more money they make.

Especially if it's your first time there, I don't think see a reason to rush in and out. You want to see the place, and if it's hot outside, you're out of the sun and in air-conditioning.

We went at the end of January and pre-ordered. We were SOOOO happy we did! The line to order food was stretched quite a ways back so we would have been standing outside in line just to order. Instead, we walked right up, paid, found our seat, got our food and ate. Pre-ordering didn't make us feel rushed at all and we definitely appreciated not having to stand in yet another line.

A scam? Hardly.

The advantage of pre-ordering is not having to stand in the long line waiting to order, many times out in the hot sun rather than inside in the air conditioning....wasting valuable park time. Sure, it helps Disney turn tables over quicker, but I fail to see a reason why that would be a problem for anyone.

The one time we didn't pre order we waited at least a good 25 minutes outside in the sun just to get inside to the kiosks to place an order. Everyone with a preorder was getting sent right past us into the castle. Since then we always pre order and we pretty much walk right in every time with no more than 2 people ahead of us waiting to pay. It's definitely worth it and not a scam at all.

OP, keep in mind you can preorder right up until minutes before your check in time. So you can still avoid that line outside and preorder much closer to your mealtime. Substitutions can still be requested at the time you pay.

I would never NOT pre-order at BOG. The line to order looked atrocious. We literally grabbed our yellow rose, sat down and had food in front of us in like, 5 minutes. I found it to be very efficient. I guess if you were going for dinner, that pace might be too much, you know, like food is being thrown at you. But for lunch it was great.

Agreed!
We had our pre-order lunch last week and it was so much better than waiting in that long line. No one in my family felt rushed once inside and eating and it was a nice break. The food came quickly and we took our time eating and looking around.

Pre-orders are directed to a designated kiosk area upon arrival, and in my experience get seated faster than those who do not. Definitely recommend it.

Our last trip, we had family members decide to go 5 weeks prior to the trip. We kept trying to get a reservation for 2 or for two additional people with no luck. We decided to ask if they could join us and the CM said yes!! Pixie dust for certain! When my daughter went to pay, she added items and substitutions at that time without a problem! Beautiful place, good food and we got to have our family join us!!

We did a preorder for breakfast and I was able to make a substitution when I got there. I say do your preorder and when you get to the person who directs you to a kiosk tell them you want to sub something and they will be able to do it. They just had me tell the guy that was seating me (I wanted scrambled eggs on my open faced sandwich instead of poached) No problems! If they tell you you cant sub on the braised pork, then Im sure you could just change it to a different meal at that point

Anyone know the lunch entitlement for kids on dining plan
What can I click for preorder
Meal
Drink and dessert ?

Been MANY times and only pre-ordered once. And like many before me my order was lost in space.

The advantage was I got to go through the pre-order line to the kiosk which was much faster than all those in the non-preorder line. Deal breaker, no. If I wanted to try to substitute, then I would just order there.

Tip that I learned (too late)--- You can order an adult meal for a child while on the dining plan.
I wish I would have known that before our last trip!

Are you able to indicate food allergies is you are pre-ordering?
You indicate food allergies when you make the ADR. When your window opens to pre order you can look at an allergy friendly menu online. One note, I am the only one in my family with a food allergy so I ordered for the rest of my family first on the regular menu, then switched to the allergy menu (there was a button to click for allergy menu) to make my pre order.

We have preordered three times now and would never not do it, saves time and you get in quicker to find a seat. We have never had a problem with them losing our order, it is a convenient way to save time, I am all for that.
