Here we haven't even gone on our first cruise and I am thinking about our next one. It sounds like October is a good month to cruise. Is there a thread already with people's opinions and experiences with October cruises? If not recently or not at all, I'd like to hear what the October cruisers have to share about cruising in October. TIA

We cruised in late October (23rd-30th) last fall and liked it so much we booked again for the same week this year!

It is late enough in hurricane season to have much better odds than August and September. The weather is beautiful and warm. The crowds at WDW aren't too bad if you want to combine that with your cruise. DCL rates are better than the "peak" times.

About the only negative I can think of is, if you have kids, you probably have to take them out of school. My DS was in Kindergarten for our 2004 cruise and will be in 1st grade for our next cruise. I don't have a problem taking him out since we have to vacation around my husband's work schedule - but I know that for some people this is a problem with October.

We cruised last Oct. 31 on the 4-day Wonder...it was great! Weather was perfect...seas were calm....except the first night when you are crossing over the Gulf Stream...it's just a little rough...but I think that is an all the time thing! Anyway...we also rebooked onboard for Oct. 21, 2006...7 day this time! But...then we decided that was too far away, and are now booked on a 4 day Wonder this Oct. 23! So now we have 2 cruises to look forward to!
We have always taken our vacation to Florida in October...crowds are good and weather is great too!

I love October. We went on October 21st last year and it was beautiful. PERFECT weather, hot, but not too hot. Sunny, calm seas, gorgeous. Hurricanes are almost through by then, I think, so not as much risk.

The only down side is if your kids are in school, although so many schools now have a fall break of some sort, maybe you could work it around that if it's an issue.

Good luck! The fall is awesome!!! :earboy2:

I loved my cruise in October.. we had calm seas, great weather, and less crowds.

I really think the only down side you would have is pulling kids out of school.

This Oct (15th) will be our 3rd Oct Cruise. Never been any other time of year but no reason to. Perfect cruising weather combined with low crowds at the theme parks. Wish it was Oct now. :rotfl:

Sounds like there's no downside. We homeschool, so pulling the kids out of school is not an issue.
